The store works with Marnie Rocks Beading Cancer, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children in outpatient care at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Every week, employees and fans of the store volunteer their time at the hospital, crafting jewelry with the young cancer patients.

A Meal

... at Sonny Bryan’s, Preston and Forest or Lovers and the Tollway, on Saturday, Feb. 13. That’s when the barbecue restaurant will be celebrating its 100th anniversary with $2.50 sandwich specials — and all proceeds will benefit The First Tee of Dallas, a nonprofit helping youth develop through golf. To achieve its mission, the nonprofit conducts an extended program for kids, and Sonny Bryan’s has committed to donating a minimum of 100 scholarships.

02.02 DALLAS HAND KNITTERS

GUILD MEETING $15 All levels of knitters are welcome to join this neighborhood club, which promotes creativity and aims to improve skill. The February meeting includes a workshop taught by expert knitter Sabrina Brown, who will show members how to finish the foot and toes on several types of socks. Guild memberships are sold in half-year packages for $15. The group meets at 7:15 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month September through May, and each meeting is dedicated to a different topic.
