SIMPLE GREEN LIVING TIPS

We are being drawn into a green-living lifestyle for a several reasons, primarily because we want to embrace sound environmental practices, cost-savings initiatives, or the opportunity to instill positive values in the younger generation. Fortunately, green living satisfies all of these areas simultaneously, while offering other benefits at the same time.

Because of the amount of time we spend in at home or at our work places creating an environmentally-sensitive space is a way to practice the green-living lifestyle and make a serious impact. Be it residential or commercial here are some tips you should consider when designing or enhancing your home or business.

Plants

Beautify any space with plants placing them strategically. Select those that are low maintenance if you are not a green person Look for plants that don’t require much water, plant trees for shade and wind breaks, and avoid harsh herbicides and pesticides to help cultivate a yard that is more in tune with the surrounding nature.

Lighting

A good night’s rest, a productive day at work and a relaxing time in your family room or work areas are all benefits of proper lighting. Start by gradually changing your lights to energy saving LED bulbs.

Trees

Plant trees around your property. Palms, pittosporum hedge, bougainville, sweet lime are a few examples

Patios

Design a cool space creating an oasis and an area for relaxation.

Energy Star Options

Select and change appliances and or electronics with Energy Star models to save cost.

Consider Green Energy Sources

Seek out information relating to solar energy it can give more opportunities for you to use green energy in your home and know that you’re doing your part to reduce carbon emissions.
