1/2 cup butter, softened 8 ounces cream cheese, softened 1 cup white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla 3/4 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 2 cups flour 1/4 cup cocoa 12 ounces milk chocolate chips 1 cup nuts if desired

Mix butter, cream cheese, sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine all dry ingredient, except the chocolate chips and nuts , and add to the creamed mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by tablespoons onto a baking sheet and lightly press the cookie dough down with fingers before baking. Bake at 350˚ for 13 minutes and then allow to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Makes 2-3 dozen cookies.

If you just want a tasty chocolate chip cookie you may omit the cocoa.
