Nursery Newsletter Spring Term 2014 Dear Parents and carers, We would like to welcome all our new parents to Adwick Primary and we hope you enjoy your time with us. We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year festivities and had some time to relax. During the Spring Term our new starters will be settling into their new routines and all children will experience a variety of exciting learning opportunities. This term our learning will be based on the themes……… Spring 1: Pattern and Shape The children will learn all about patterns in the environment, camouflage and simple repeating patterns. They will also be learning 2D shape names and using these in patterns. Spring 2: Once Upon a Time The children will learn all about traditional tales through the use of picture books and puppets. Literacy Spring 1: New children will be learning about new staff, friends and class routines. Children will work in small groups to develop their speaking and listening skills, phonic knowledge and recording skills. Spring 2: Children will learn how to talk about stories including setting, characters and plot. They will continue to develop their phonic knowledge and recording skills. Numeracy Spring 1: Touch counting, reciting numbers, recognising numerals, patterns and leaning shape names. Spring 2: Adding two groups together, finding 1 less and counting to 10 and beyond.

Please support us in talking to your child about our traffic light system and reinforcing the golden rules. Don’t forget to look at the golden star every Friday.

Please don’t forget to fill in your child’s special achievements so we can display them on our achievement trees. We have attached a leaf so you can record what your child can do and bring it back to school. We recommend that every child has a water bottle in school. Please send your child with a bottle of fresh water each day.
