Mrs Chapman and Miss Tembey would like to offer a warm welcome back to the Spring Term.
Literacy This term we will be working on writing formal and informal letters . We will also be writing poetry about ourselves and Britain. Next we will look at instructional writing, explaining to aliens how to bake cakes.
Maths In Maths this term we will be focusing on shapes, times tables, fractions and calculation methods. In calculation we will be working on our informal written methods for subtraction, multiplication and division.
Topic Our topics this term will focus France. We will be looking at French landmarks; culture; language and food. In science we will be focusing on plants and growth, hopefully growing our own plants successfully. For our parent workshop we will be creating an Eiffel Tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows and making the perfect French Baguette! We are also lucky enough to have a visit from a French Teacher from the Outwood Academy. After half term we will be shooting off to space! We will be looking at the solar system and the life of a star.
PE
Our PE lesson is a double session on Wednesday and we will need P.E. shorts, T-shirt, trainers and a tracksuit. This term we will be working on our dance skills and invasion games. Children will learn to combine movements on the mats in time to music. Whilst in games the children will be learning passing, moving and teamwork skills.
PSHCE & RE In PSHCE we will be looking at friendship and overcoming difficulties. RE will focus on French places of worship.
ICT In ICT we will be beginning to look at research techniques to conduct research on France. We will also be using Word to type reply letters to our Pen Pal Leon.
Music In music this term we will working on singing French songs linked with our topic
