Forney Partners with Spencer Boyd & Young Motorsports

Members of the No. 12 Young’s Motorsports NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team are no strangers to heavy-duty welding. They do lots of it both at the track and back at the team’s Mooresville, North Carolina, race shop. Young’s Motorsports driver Spencer Boyd even enjoys “tinkering a little bit” and “having a little fun” with welding.
All these efforts would be in vain, however, without access to products from a top-notch welding company, and Young’s Motorsports has found one in Fort Collins, Colorado-based Forney Industries. Through a partnership that will continue for at least the remainder of this year, Young’s Motorsports is employing Forney welding machines, helmets and gloves – most of them courtesy of Forney Industries – to keep Boyd’s trucks in pristine condition.
In return, Boyd is carrying a Forney logo on his truck in select races, and the veteran driver and his team are promoting Forney products on their respective Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. As partnerships in NASCAR go, this one is pretty close to a match-made-in-heaven.
“We’ve been using Forney all year at Young’s,” Boyd said. “And if you’ve seen how our races have gone at Daytona and Bristol dirt, we’re definitely putting their products to work. But it’s just about showcasing them on social media and letting people know what we use in our shop.”

“If you’re building a hot rod in your garage, this is the tool you should use, because, well, we go 200-plus miles an hour with it. So if it’s good enough for us, it’s good enough for you.”
When Boyd wrecked on the dirt track at Bristol Motor Speedway in April, he and the team were especially thankful for their Forney welding machines.
“After a crash, the guys had to fix the rear clip of the truck, and instead of going to a backup truck, we’re like, ‘Hey, we can fix this, weld the rear clip back on, get it right, and it can race in less than 24 hours,’” Boyd said. “So we didn’t have to go back to the shop; we were able to pull out our big welder right there at the track
and weld it up right there.”
The team is putting its Forney helmets and gloves to equally good use.
“Obviously, these guys want to wear leather gloves when they’re welding because of the sparks and the heat and all that,” Boyd said. “Forney makes a few great options for that.”
“Then there’s the helmet – a super necessity right there. You have to have a welding helmet on, safety first, and protect those eyes. Forney has some cool custom designs. A couple of the helmets we got from them replicate old U.S. Air Force paint schemes and stuff. It’s pretty cool to express yourself through your helmet.”
Especially a helmet from a dedicated partner like Forney.
