To Swim Ireland Clubs
We are writing to you regarding the upcoming Dave McCullagh Memorial Gala taking place in the 50m pool in the University of Limerick from 22nd-24th February inclusive. We have just become aware that the venue for the event is not available for competition until 3.00pm on Friday 22nd February whereas the original schedule provides for the meet to commence at 8am on this date. Unfortunately our attempts to resolve this did not prove fruitful. Therefore we are writing to alert you to the following changes as soon as possible as we appreciate this may impact on arrangements that have been made. We apologise for any inconvenience but hope that this notice will allow you to make any alterations required to arrangements. Now that all entries are in we have been able to analyse Friday’s session and it is still possible to run the full programme of events scheduled to take place on Friday 22nd February. The Team Leaders meeting will now take place at 1.30pm at the pool. The exact location of this meeting will be provided nearer the time. The warm up for session 1 will take place from 3.00-4.00pm and the heats session will run from 4.00-5.00pm. Warm up for session 2 will take place from 5.30-6.15pm with finals starting at 6.30pm. Due to there being less than 20 entrants in a number of events, several events will now run with A finals only, therefore based on our analysis we expect that the Friday evening session will be finished by 8.00pm. On the basis that the level of entries is not particularly high, we have tried to work to the bare minimum of officials required so that we do not ask any club for more than two officials per session. However, without these officials, we will not be able to run the meet and if any club finds they have additional volunteers, their assistance would be greatly appreciated. White t-shirts will be supplied for all volunteer officials. (Roster attached) Again, we extend our apologies for the change in the original schedule for the event. We confirm that we expect to run the same level of competition that you have become accustomed to over the past 18 months and look forward to a fantastic weekend of swimming.
