ASFF opens on Thursday 6th November and continues until Sunday 9th November Now in our fourth year of bringing the world’s best short films together in one showcase, BAFTA Qualifying ASFF has once again attracted thousands of entries. This year’s Official Selection demonstrates the universal appeal of film and shows that although technology may have made the tools of filmmaking more accessible and social networking has connected artists and audiences in unprecedented ways, captivating narratives and memorable images retain all of their power and impact. This year's guest countries include Japan, Lebanon and Iraq with panel discussions and introduced screenings. ASFF also teams up with the Yorkshire Film Archive to commemorate World War I with a special screening of archive footage. Some of the film world’s most acclaimed talents will be in York to offer masterclasses, including Mark Herman, writer of Brassed Off and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, as well as editor Lisa Gunning (Nowwhere Boy) and Ridley Scott Associates. From music video and fashion film, to crowdfunding and editing, we have a masterclass for every filmmaker, together with the chance to network with festivals and programmers. All films are in competition and we will present awards in the categories of drama, comedy, thriller, animation, experimental, artists’ film, music video, fashion and advertising. All films are also up for the Best of Fest and People’s Choice Awards.

If you have booked Industry Sessions or Special Ticketed Events your name will be on a registration list at the venue. Thursday 6 November is Early Doors Preview Screenings â&#x20AC;&#x201C; please note there are limited capacities in these venues and you should arrive early to secure your place. Seating is non allocated. Due to the historic and unique nature of the venues, seating capacities for some screenings are limited. Day Screening Pass 6 - 9 November 2014 If you can’t spend the whole weekend exploring all that ASFF has to offer, this is your ticket to all the events on your chosen day of the festival programme. You can choose your day whether it's Early Doors screening on Thursday or Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the day pass is valid from 10.00 until 23.00 on your selected day. Includes guest programmes.

Single SCREENING Ticket Valid from 6 - 9 November. This single ticket is valid for one screening at any venue from 6 - 9 November 2014. The ticketholder may attend any screening at any across the city, allowing you to see the film you want to, at your preferred venue, and enjoy free time in York in between. The Yorkshire Film Archive Sunday 9 November, 2pm, NCEM Yorkshire Film Archive presents Filmed and Not Forgotten an exploration of films made just before, during and after WWI from communities across the region. They capture a moment in time, and now, 100 years later, they connect us to the people who were there. 50% of individual ticket sales will go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
