akizone Hello! I’m a freelance illustrator who joined FFXIV when Stormblood came out, because my girlfriend wanted to make me feel the experience of being an Eozean. She thought it would be fun and was sure that I would love this game. She was right I love it! (lol) Since the start, I had planned to play it casual: but when I watched the cutscenes, I feel the stories, listen to music and know the character. I love all of it. I ended up playing to 70 on all classes during SB, and became a raid player. I even got to experience the joy of in-game housing. The way the game made me love my Warrior of Light so much inspired me to draw some fanart of this game. It is fun to draw stuff about this game, and race I like most is au’ra. My character's name is Macalile Cheezerlin. She lives in Tonberry, feel free to send a /tell or visit her anytime or if you need a tank to play any content - you can call on me!

rirene Freelance artist who’s been in FF hell since grade 6. I watched my brothers play FFVII and I fell in love with it even though I didn’t understand what they were saying, LOL! I played it by myself again when I grew up, and after that I followed up with another FF later on: VIII, IX, X,... bla bla to XIV! At first (during 1.0) I couldn’t play because my computer couldn’t run the game. Then when they came out with ARR I was in university dome at the time; and they blocked the internet from playing online games. I preordered the collector’s edition, but couldn’t play it. Time passed , I graduated and bought a new computer.I thought, “IT’S TIME FOR FFXIV NOW!” so I invited my boyfriend to get into it too. FFXIV was in the Stormblood expansion by then, but no matter! I was able to catch up! I ended up as a player who has never unsubbed and cleared ultimate content. Haha, I have been tempered by Eorzea now. I really fell in love with the game and community too, so if you see a Xeala name Renzalie in Tonberry feel free to poke!

endy Hello! I am an illustrator and fanartist who started playing FFXIV a few years ago to see what all the fuss was about among my friends, and I haven’t stopped...since…. I am a big glamour and lore enthusiast, and I main Red Mage! (Please buff us, Yoshi-P…) I’ve recently been inspired by the overwhelming love I have for Shadowbringers, and have been in a bit of a...wild...drawing frenzy for it since July, but that love’s yet to wane, so what’s an artist to do, right? Sometimes, you just have...to become what you must...and make what you want to see!

HGXIV HGXIV is a collaborative effort between Rhapsody Enarya, Dividus Yliaster, and Ashen Bride. We have a podcast where we like to shed light on housing secrets and show how you can make specialized furniture with the items provided ingame, with our special “Break It Down” series. HGXIV streams every Saturday evening and we discuss housing trends, builds, and specific point of interests, whether it’s about the importance of ambient lighting and colors, how to grow your portfolio for commission work, or even showcasing designers from the community. HGXIV’s favorite episodes are when we can share our podcast with other designers. We have had the good fortune of hearing from several creative people. We show their latest designs and look into where they get their ideas, as well as their background and influences. HGXIV approaches designers and works with their schedule, so keep an eye out for any messages from us! There is a weekly walk-through where players submit their homes and we will feature them on stream. The submission is done via our Discord in a WalkThrough Request channel, and we encourage people to let us know specific things to look for. One person had us look for hidden foxes -- we found over 30 in one house! Another designer had a warehouse; but behind a screen and down some stairs was a shady, black market with smuggled goods, and even a distillery! The goal of these walk-throughs is for us to take a look and really examine the features and the techniques that went into a design. Sometimes we’ll give guidance to make a design look more cohesive, or even just to save somebody on item slots by pointing

out alternative furniture to use. We don’t want to walk into a house and suggest too much, especially if it’s out of budget or the designer has time constraints, so our suggestions are always within reason --- if we even have suggestions. Everyone’s so creative! After our walk-through on stream, HGXIV will go back and take a clean video with no commentary to feature on our Youtube channel. The aim is for players to have a nice video to share with their friends, or on social media. Our Twitch and Youtube are still in the founding stages. We have only been doing the podcast and our “Break It Down” series since April 2019, but the hosts of HGXIV have extensive knowledge in design and commission work. We love to create room concepts and come up with things missing from the game, or something tailored to an interest, such as refrigerators, pool tables, wood burning stoves, or mud benches. HGXIV is always trying to create new furniture combinations or come up with solutions, and we are very grateful to have a helpful community who gives us submissions and suggestions. LINKS:

myricaria Myricaria always admired the craftsmanship of cosplayers, but she admits that when she started playing FFXIV as Catriona Fraser on Shiva back in January 2015, cosplaying for herself wasn’t even on her radar. Then came the release of Heavensward, and she fell in love with the Halonic Priest healing set. Her character wore the outfit for over a year, so long that she recounts how her friends called her character “the Pope”! It wasn’t long until Myricaria realized she wanted to wear the robes herself, and thus, in 2016 she dipped her toes into the world of cosplay for the first time. For Myricaria, the Halonic Priest set holds a special place in her heart for how close it brings her to her character, and her character’s close ties with Halone and Ishgard. Like many players, Myricaria identifies strongly with her Warrior of Light, explaining that the bond is “a very special connection that remains unbroken to this day.” She poured love into every aspect of the costume and is proud that every piece is made by hand. Two patterns were used for the outfit’s trousers and jacket, with a skirt sewn into the jacket to build the robe. Every other detail was done freehand - along with videos, tutorials, and “1000 screenshots from the game.”

The robe was sewn out of white cotton canvas in order to give it weight with a smooth texture. The details and accents were constructed from “brown imitation leather and bordeaux red and golden taffeta,” because, as she explained to Aetherflow Media: “As a member of the curia, the robe must also reflect its high status, which is why I chose these noble-looking fabrics.” She remembers Gamescom 2017 in Cologne, Germany, and meeting Naoki Yoshida after the cosplay contest when he came backstage to distribute prizes and take pictures with the cosplayers. Yoshi-P happened to be wearing a t-shirt with a White Mage, which is Myricaria’s main class, and she calls the moment of taking a picture with him while wearing her Halonic set “amazing.” Myricaria’s second cosplay was not far behind; the following year she started work on Lakshmi, whom she calls her “second love in [Final Fantasy].” She didn’t use any patterns this time around, as the draping fabric was a much simpler shape than the Halonic robes. Chiffon and taffeta, fabrics commonly used in Indian fashion referenced in Lakshmi’s design, were decorated with pearls and paillettes and embroidered with ribbons and small coins. The rest of the details were built from foam. Detailing a costume, particularly ones as traditionally complex as Final Fantasy,

PR1OR1TY_0NE With only weeks before LA FanFest 2018, Jayson Slone was preparing to pull out his cosplay of Jandelaine (the fiery-haired aesthetician we all know and love) for the festival. Jayson, who plays Goge Vandire on Balmung, loves Final Fantasy XIV as much as anyone else, but no other character had really caught his eye for a cosplay - until, that is, the reveal of the character then known as Solus zos Galvus, now EmetSelch. His “trollish behavior” was reminiscent of Xellos from Slayers for Jayson, and “at that point the deal was sealed.” Once again, only weeks before FanFest. The construction of the costume was a “blur.” Understandably so, given the tight deadline! Jayson credits around-the-clock teamwork for pulling the costume together, including the efforts of his fiancee and their close friend Indra. They used a “truckload of vinyl, linen, craft foam, faux fur, [and] gold bias tape” to construct Solus’s outfit. All told, the costume weighs almost ten pounds, making it fairly hefty to wear around a convention for hours. The final result, however, was well worth the sleepless nights. Jayson is particularly proud of the meticulously detailed jacket, and considers it the “centerpiece” of the whole costume. His favorite memory of FanFest

was “waving to the masses” during the parade, as only the campy and ostentatious Solus zos Galvus can. If Jayson was tired while wearing Solus during FanFest, his exhaustion doesn’t show! The paint work on the overcoat is immaculately clean, with a mixture of deep golden tones to allow for texture and depth. The heft of the vinyl coat gives him a powerful silhouette for striking poses. The costume is complemented by stunning makeup that he takes full advantage of, mastering Solus’s iconic, schmaltzy smirk in every photo. Even before Solus was revealed as Emet-Selch in Shadowbringers, Jayson’s emotive photos already hint at the man’s complex history lurking beneath the surface of his smile. Jayson completed his cosplay before the release of Shadowbringers, when Emet-Selch’s story would become the point upon which the entire 5.0 story hinged. He admits he was initially reticent about Emet’s character in Shadowbringers. With his new favorite character holding such a key role in the main quest, he “feared that too much of a good thing would sour [him] on the character.” Thankfully, the masterful writing of the expansion found Jayson interacting with Emet even in non-cutscenes, enjoying every
