Forum Outcomes 17th AFA Int’l Annual Fertilizers Forum & Exhibition April 11-13, 2011 Cairo Marriott Hotel, Egypt Representatives of regional and international fertilizer companies and institutions, more than 600 delegates, convened in the 17th AFA Annual Fertilizer Forum in Cairo under the theme “Your Road to Business”.. It is worth mentioning that; the importance of the Arab region is set to increase in future, based on the concentration of new projects leading to increasing market share. The forum proceedings continued for 3 days, through which the following issues were covered:  World Food Security Situation and Challenges in the view of :  Importance of maximizing the fertilizers role in closing the food gap at present & future times.  Paying due concern to Nutrient Balance to maximize agricultural productivity & preserve environment.

 How production costs are changing, specifically the cost of energy and feedstock, and how this is impacting the nitrogen supply curve, producer profitability, and investment decision making  Over view of global fertilizer industry which indicates that, Fertilizer use, sales and production exceeded expectations (total world fertilizer demand is forecast to rise by 4.7% in 2010/110).  Government policy in India (Nutrient based subsidy (NBS) on P & K fertilizers) as a part of the reform process in the fertilizer sector and its impact on Indian’s fertilizer sector  An overview of the fertilizer market in North America (as a significant global producer of nitrogen, phosphate and potash) and an outlook for supply and demand in 2011  Current fertilizer supply situation in China and capacity additions to 2015-16:  How China will likely feature as part of the global supply chain for fertilizers, with particular reference to its export policy.  China’s rise to nominal self sufficiency in the phosphates sector and how this impacts international trade going forward.  China’s strategic position in terms of fertilizer natural resources.  An overview of the fertilizer market in Australia and impact of public policy on the Australian Fertilizer industry  Dry Cargo & Freight Markets Fundamentals :  How the different sizes of ships will affect each other  What are the most important commodities in shipping and which are growing most...how that affects the different sizes of ships.  How the supply/demand drivers are likely to affect the freight market's different size sectors
