Product Design Product Design is concerned primarily with the relationship between products and systems and those who use them. The Product Design program at NID inculcates a user-centred approach and processes.
Furniture & Interior Design It deals with creation and evolution of new forms and ideas for objects, structures or systems at human scale through sustainable and innovative use of diverse materials and processes for improving the quality of life in immediate living and working environment.
Ceramic & Glass Design Ceramic and Glass Design program at NID takes inspiration from both art and craft traditions and it equally recognizes and lays emphasis on the production potential of these materials.
Graphic Design A graphic design student, in addition to a thorough grounding in design abilities and theoretical issues, undertakes the study of the cultural and historical context in which designers need to function, as well as of the social and ethical factors that influence design decisions
Animation Film Design The objective of this program is to enable students to find solutions to complex problems in various fields of communication design using animation film making as a creative medium.
Film & Video Communication The primary aim of the Film and Video Communication program is to train versatile design-informed communicators, fluent in the conception and production of short films, on a range of educational, cultural, social, entertainment and marketing communication needs.
Textile Design Textile Design Program lays emphasis on woven and printed textiles as well as non-woven techniques like resist dyed, block printed and knitted, besides surface ornamentation using traditional and mass production methods.
Exhibition Design The Exhibition Design Program aims to develop confidence in its graduates to interpret, contextualize, manifest, express & communicate through creative handling of space & ambiences. This is done through multi sensory and multimedia installations that create interactive and experiential environments.
Transportation & Automobile Design The program pays special attention to the Indian context, especially to the users’ needs in terms of comfort, safety, information and even the considerations of cultural sensitivities and preferences.
Toy & Game Design The PG Diploma in Toy and Game Design at the National Institute of Design aims to develop a professional and creative approach to the growing needs and aspirations in the field of education and entertainment
Photography Design The PG Diploma in Photography Design offers students, the opportunities to work in the context of leading edge practice in their subject and to develop their skills to an advanced level appropriate for careers in the industries.

Design for Digital Experience Design for Digital Experience focuses on experiential component to enhance the quality of life in the digitally enabled society also keeping in view the rural/ urban spaces & requirements.

GDPD •Students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ISC. •Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved •categories) as on June 1, 2012. PGDPD •Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent including those who will be appearing for the qualifying examinations. •Areas mentioned against each discipline are eligible to apply. •Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2012.

Admission Procedure WRITTEN EXAM All candidates fulfilling the requirements of minimum qualification and falling within the prescribed age limit will be called for the Design Aptitude Test (PGDPD or GDPD) SHORTLISTING Based on the scores obtained in these tests, candidates will be shortlisted and called for the second phase. SECOND PHASE STUDIO TEST + INTERVIEW + PORTFOLIO REVIEW The second phase of the admission procedure will consist of studio tests followed by personal interviews at Ahmadabad, Bangalore and Gandhinagar.
