Tuesday 27th April. My wife Kirstine is 66 on this day, it reminds me of the one of the greatest days in football, 1966 when Bobby Moore picked up the Jules Rimet trophy from our beloved Queen in winning the World Cup.

On leaving home on this particular day in 2021, all my wife said she wanted as a present for her birthday was for Posh for to get promoted back into the Championship from our game with Doncaster, but sometimes in life you don’t get what you want.
This year is my 60th year in football. From my playing days at Manchester United, to my 32 years in management and my recent term as a Director of Football, I have now spent 25 years at Peterborough United Football Club.
Of course, I have also been the owner and Darragh MacAnthony literally saved my life by buying the football club. The strain and responsibility of paying everybody’s wages was putting me in an early grave. I could only dream of the progress the Posh have made under the leadership of DMAC.
For the last three years, Darragh has brought in partners and Jason Neale and Stewart Thompson and these three gentlemen have taken the club to heights that I could only dream of.
We are on the cusp of achieving what we set out to achieve, promotion back to the Championship and how lucky would I be if that all worked out when I am celebrating these marvellous and miraculous milestones. The manager Darren Ferguson has achieved so much in his career already, he has four promotions on his CV and hopefully he can make it number five as well as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy success.
This year has been incredibly challenging due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The management, players and backroom staff have provided an invaluable contribution and our fans have been absolutely marvellous, helping where they can whilst watching from afar.
The three co-owners have been amazing to carry the club forward. Off the pitch, they have purchased the current stadium from the council, we are in the process of moving up to Category 2 within our Academy and they deserve enormous praise for getting us into this position.
I must say, without DMACs determination, will to win and relentless nature, the summer could have been very different. He was so determined to ensure we got the players in that we required. He wanted to reward the fans and everybody for the way last season ended. I thought the deals were dead.
A replacement for Ivan Toney and Sammie Szmodics, who was superb in a loan spell last season. They’ve got 50 goals between them, without those two players we wouldn’t be in the position we currently are.
