very home has certain areas that are prone to mold that if not inspected, could cause serious structural damage or even health issues to the homeowners. A common misconception is that since we live in a very dry climate, how could mold grow? The environment inside of your home is controlled by your HVAC system and does not introduce outside air. Therefore, any kind of moisture has potential to turn to mold if not detected. Plumbing leaks from a refrigerator ice/water maker line or dishwasher may go undetected for days, sometimes weeks. The photos shown in this article are from a homeowner in the Summerlin area where their dishwasher had leaked and water pooled onto the cement slab. The height of the tile floor caused the water to pool under the cabinetry and remain undetected until some baseboard was removed from the island area and mold was observed. Unfortunately, the homeowner’s insurance company denied the claim due to long term damage – because of the presence of mold. Since most homeowner’s insurance carriers offer limited or no coverage for mold, homeowner’s must be more proactive when dealing with any sort of plumbing leak or water damage. It is recommended any time there is a water leak, the area should be inspected by a restoration professional to evaluate the
