CARING ABOUT OUR STAFF A SEMI VITUAL ALLIED HEALTH CONFERENCE

In This Issue

Our Allied Health teams recently caught up for their annual conference! Conferences play a huge part in our business development, providing the ideal opportunity to plan and learn from each other in a motivating environment. The recent opportunity to get together and connect was the perfect change of pace after months of isolation.

A Semi Virtual Allied Health Conference Trivia Afford Reward Of The Week

Each state used the miracle of Zoom technology to all be in the same room to communicate and safely share ideas. A bit different from last year, but it was an exciting new way to get together and brainstorm. The NSW team went to the Blue Mountains, the QLD team went to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and with the ease of local restrictions the VIC team were able to meet up at a local park. “It was a dynamic meeting, mixing technology and face to face interactions. This had some exciting results, with clinicians currently on maternity leave and interstate being able to zoom in,” said Karina Johnson, Clinical Psychologist and Team Leader QLD.

The conference consisted of welcoming new team members, team-building exercises, dress ups, eating, professional development and inspirational presentations from CEO, Steven Herald and COO, Joy Kumar. Attendees were treated to a guest speaker, Professor Tony Attwood, Autism Spectrum Disorder guru, who presented on evidence-based treatments for difficulties impacting clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The teams got to discuss future projects and the direction for Afford Allied Health. Overall, 34 clinicians attended for the full conference, plus two on maternity leave who zoomed-in when they could. The team left feeling re-energised and excited for the year to come for Afford Allied Health!

A PUSH ON PACES Afford leads the way in delivering award-winning service, standards and systems. Programs like the introduction of PACES and ACES across Afford has helped lift the operational standards across our sites, ensuring that a variety of LAPS (Learning, Activities and Participation) are available to clients. This is extremely important as it helps us remain customer-focused in all we do. PACES is an Afford monitoring tool to ensure all frontline businesses are delivering exceptional service to our clients, residents and employees. ACES is similar in a way that it is also used to ensure Afford’s corporate services provide a high level of service to not only our clients but also our colleagues and teams they work with. What does PACES stand for you ask?

CHOICE

Person-Centeredness is particularly important in PACES as it means we put our clients and their families in the centre of making decisions, as they are the experts when it comes to caring for their loved ones. Many sites are already leading the way and are well-oiled machines and we look forward to seeing fresh, new Afford businesses working up the ranks to hit and exceed bonus targets in the next quarter!

A huge congratulations to our Victorian winner for 1st place Customer Service Awards, Helen Giatrakas! Helen’s hard work has been recognised many times, receiving several customer service award nominations over the past year. The most memorable would be a letter written by one of Helen’s clients. “I want to compliment and commend Helen (my support worker). She has given me a newfound faith in humanity. There should be more people like her in the world. Your company is so, so lucky to have her as she is a total asset to your team. It doesn’t matter what I’m going through, good or not so good, Helen is a little ray of sunshine even on a cloudy day. An amazing woman and wonderful human being! I can only imagine how much she impacts and inspires her other clients. Her care and professionalism is second to none. Well educated and classy. Thank you for sending her into my life.
