Affordians across the country had the opportunity to network last week at the first Client Services Frontline Conference for the year. Teams used the teleconferencing tool Zoom, to unite Affordians across all states in the same room to communicate and safely share ideas. This is the first year we had to do this for a Frontline Conference, but as always staff adapted to the change and the conference was an overwhelming success.

The Queensland team gathered together at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, lucky enough to have reduced restrictions for the events in their state. Over 230 QLD staff attended the conference and over 60 sites in the other states across the country dialled into the room via Zoom.

Conferences play a massive part in our business, providing the ideal opportunity to plan, network and learn from other teams and tribes. The recent opportunity to get together and connect was the perfect change of pace after months of isolation. The conference consisted of welcoming new team members, operations and HR updates. Important information and processes on simple restrictive practices, red alerts and mental health was presented, so that we continue to deliver our awardwinning services. It was a day full of learning and inspiration and attendees took a great deal away with them to inspire their teams in 2021.

Staff Matters STAFF HALL OF FAME AWARD WINNER - CRISTINA ALVAREZ We are so proud of the Affordians that received awards at the recent Staff Awards night. Please join us in congratulating our Hall of Fame Winner, National Marketing, Events, Grants & Fundraising Manager, Cristina Alvarez! Cristina joined Afford in 2006, with a background in sales she is responsible for leading and overseeing organisational growth through management of Affords Cherrywood Raffles, Events, Marketing and Fundraising departments. She is dedicated to passionately delivering the best events in the sector to ensure that all clients have fun and enjoy their best life. Cristina also oversees Afford Getaways, Club Afford and Grants. When it was announced she had won the Hall of Fame Award, she was in shock and it took a moment to sink in as Steve had to sneakily use a fake staff name, so she was not aware of her award-winning. “When I won, I immediately thought; I knew Claressa Alberta didn’t exist! To be honest, it didn’t click in straight away, I didn’t think I would get anything because I organised the event, but when I did get it, I felt a great sense of pride and was extremely honoured to receive a Hall of Fame award ”, said Cristina.
