SLES trainers work in partnership with trainees to support them to realise their strengths and help them work out ways to use their unique talents and abilities to find a suitable job. SLES is currently available in multiple locations across Sydney and on the Gold Coast in Queensland. However, SLES can be provided from any of our service locations, if we have interested trainees. We are working hard to build expressions of interests for more areas to launch this service.

Afford’s SLES program is the best in the industry and provides school leavers with opportunities to enhance their skills and prepare for life in the workplace. SLES trainees are supported to develop their employment and independence with a blended training approach that incorporates practical and traditional classroom learning. Often additional learning is provided through further training or TAFE courses. Trainers will also create real-life, innovative and practical opportunities for trainees to learn about the workforce.

Staff Matters CASANOVAS HIT THE ROAD IN WA & SA Our marketing team recently organised a campaign through Nova radio in South Australia and Western Australia to help spread brand awareness for our services in these new areas. We are so excited to share that our first activation event happened last Saturday the 23rd January in both states and was a huge success. As part of this campaign, Afford was given the opportunity to link with the Nova 'Casanovas' promotional team at an event and give away the popular Afford Swag. Which the Nova team commented that, “Your MERCH is awesome! The Casanovas were excited to be handing out some cool stuff (we don’t usually get such nice merch to give away!)”. Perth held their event at Osbourne park, "It was good, we had about eight people stop by. We handed out lots of giveaways and had a laugh with the Nova guys," said Customer Care Manager for WA, Lucy Pearson. Brenton Munzer, our Customer Care Manager in SA, attended the Adelaide event, a highly anticipated summer event called, The Big Wedgie. It's the world's tallest and most extreme standalone inflatable waterslide! "It was so hot almost the entire park came for a hat," Brenton said. It was the first of many events to come and we are looking forward to seeing the enquiries come and our brand build momentum from the fun and exciting giveaways!

STAFF AWARDS - 1ST PLACE SOUTH WEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARDS - LESLEY KEARNEY We are so proud of the Affordians that received awards at the Annual Staff Awards night. Please join us in congratulating Lesley Kearney for winning 1st place for the South West Customer Service Award! Lesley started working at Afford Nowra as a Lifestyle Assistant in 2018. After working at St. John of God hospital in Burwood for 18 years in mental health and then in medical records as a Legal Officer, she made the move to Afford. Her favourite thing about working for Afford is giving clients support and making a difference in their lives. “Helping them become more independent in their daily living skills and feeling more confident is the best,” said Lesley. She was not available at the awards night held in October 2020 and was not aware she had won. “I didn’t know I had won until December and couldn’t believe it. I am thankful to have been chosen for the award,” said Lesley. Congratulations Lesley!
