Trivia Answer
“The best thing about leading this amazing team is empowering them to be confident, fun and bubbly recruiters but most importantly emphasizing and promoting the Affordian culture,” said Jessica Norman, National Recruitment Manager. “Our biggest triumph is successfully growing with the business and spreading our Affordian wings nationwide in such a short time frame. Every day is a challenge, we are growing larger by the minute, but without the amazing support of our peers and the whole HR Team we wouldn’t be the successful number one disability service provider that we are today,” said Jessica.

REDFEB – FITNESS PASSPORT! Afford Employer of Choice initiatives have been implemented to make sure that our employees have a great work-life balance and access to healthy lifestyle resources. The Fitness Passport can help you achieve your fitness goals by providing access to multiple nearby fitness centres for you and your family. February is RedFeb month. This is a health project organised by Heart Research Australia who support worldclass research into heart disease. Sadly, heart disease remains the world’s leading cause of death and the largest killer of Australians by far. This month, we invite you to wear red for someone close to your heart to help keep families together for longer. Whether it’s a family member, wife, husband, or that special friend who means the world to you, or in memory of someone you loved who sadly passed away due to heart disease. Share your images on the Afford Staff Facebook page wearing red using the hashtags #wearredanddonate #redfeb #HROz #researchsaveslives and #heartdiseaseawareness. For staff who would like to register officially with RedFeb, you can visit www.heart-research-red-feb.raisely.com/. Regular cardio workouts can strengthen your heart and blood vessels. Cardio exercise uses repetitive contraction of large muscle groups to get your heart beating faster and is the most beneficial type of exercise for your cardiovascular system (your heart and blood vessels). Get moving this month and make health and fitness a priority for RedFeb. For staff who need more information or have any questions about accessing the Fitness Passport employer of choice initiative, contact Payroll Officer, Rawvell Miraflor Rawvell.Miraflor@afford.com.au or visit the website www.fitnesspassport.com.au/AFS. Those in North QLD, VIC, WA, and SA will be able to join us soon!

Staff Matters STAFF AWARDS WINNER – HALL OF FAME – KYM MAFI We are so proud of the Affordians that received awards at the recent Staff Awards night. Please join us in congratulating Hall of Fame winner, Kym Mafi! Kym is our National Executive Manager for Accommodation & Respite. She joined Afford in 2011, with humbled beginnings at the day program in Kings Park and has been with Afford for over nine years. Her incredible knowledge of the sector and Afford has excelled Kym into her executive role, now responsible for over 157 residents enjoying the Afford Lifestyle across 39 supported accommodation homes, 5 respite homes and leading a team of 5 District Managers. She is passionate about ensuring our residents lead the best lifestyle possible! When Steve announced her award, he reflected on when he first met Kym, “The first time I met her, was the first week I started at Afford. She was a frontline worker at Kings Park, I never knew she would be a senior executive one day. She manages our group homes nationally and she’s a deadest superstar”, said Steve. Supported by all of her team cheering her on from behind, Kym stepped on stage and accepted her award. “I’ve been with Afford going on 10 years now and I absolutely love Afford. I honestly wholeheartedly love Afford and what we stand for and what we’ve accomplished. I started right off at the beginning as a front-line worker and I wouldn’t have been able to do this without such an amazing team. From Cherrywood and now we’re in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, the possibilities are endless. What we can achieve and the lives we can change, I don’t even have the words. Anything our clients need or want we will make it happen, no client goes without” said Kym. Congratulations Kym!
