Visiting the Manly Sea Life exhibition has been one of the top trips for Club Afford members. So last month, a group of participants visited the Sanctuary to learn about and observe various sea life creatures! Everyone had a great time and were so excited about being able to get their hands wet in the rock pool. An added bonus was when many clients had the chance to hold the sea life for themselves, which was an excellent sensory opportunity. It was a wonderful learning experience with the friendly Sea Life staff sharing information about marine-life habitats and species. Club Afford members get to explore and experience new adventures each month, so don’t miss out on the next great adventure and JOIN THE CLUB today!

Conquering The Climb Oliver had a goal to climb the wall at Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym (SICG) in Villawood; in true Afford spirit, he was determined to achieve it and let no obstacle stand in his way. The staff at Campbelltown Lifestyle Centre worked with Oliver to help him reach his goal and organised to spend at day at SICG Villawood. At first, climbing from the bottom to the endpoint of the rock formations seemed like a big task, but with determination and perseverance Oliver took on the challenge. Oliver successfully achieved his goal of making it to the endpoint of a rock, climbing up and down without falling. He was able to use his strength, finesse and body control to carry out this activity. He was provided with some special equipment for the activity and was assisted by Afford staff. A rockin’ effort Oliver! Congratulations!
A Friendship Formed At Afford Lynne has enjoyed being an Afford client for many years, but she rarely had someone her age to chat with who shared her interests. Recently, Afford welcomed Suzanne to our community. Suzanne’s sister, Joy, enquired about whether Suzanne could attend a Lifestyle Centre once a week in the hopes of meeting a friend her own age. Afford staff immediately thought that Lynne and Suzanne may hit it off, and organised for the two to meet up. Now the pair are able to go out for coffee and a chat on Thursdays offsite, so they can appreciate the company of someone with similar interests and at a similar life stage. A picture is worth a thousand words – as you can see, their friendship is flourishing and there is certainly a long-term bond forming between Lynne and Suzanne.

CHOICE
Below is a friendly reminder for Fitness Passport Members. With such a great Afford initiative it’s important to know some of the rules and regulations, so that you can get the most out of this Employer of Choice benefit. If you need to suspend your Fitness Passport (pause payments for an extended period), here are few important things you need to know: • All suspensions must be reviewed before being approved. • Members are able to suspend their memberships in certain circumstances. The suspension must last more than one month but less than 6 months. • Members are required to send evidence (Medical Injury /Annual or Long Service Leave / Temporary Job Transfer / Unpaid & Maternity Leave / Flight Itinerary). • Please do not click the “Active” button for suspensions as this will cancel the member’s account. • Also, we do not backdate suspension requests because our system is designed to have the start date of the suspension as current. • It is also important that if the member is within their 12-month minimum contract period that they are informed that each suspension period is added to their contract term. For example, if the member requests suspension 6 months into their contract period for a 1 month period, their 12-month contract now becomes a 13 month contract (that month suspension is added onto the end of their minimum contract period). Make sure you send through your Fitness Passport achievements and photos. Through the Fitness Passport you will be on your way to a healthier life and mind!
