A Tribute To Tim Walton

In this Issue Page 1 • A Tribute To Tim Walton

It is with the fondest respect and gratitude that Afford would like to pay tribute to our former CEO, the late Tim Walton who sadly passed away. Disability support services in Australia have benefited largely from the progressive initiatives driven by Tim Walton during his 35 year career and work in the vocational services, health, education, and disability sectors. Tim was tireless in his efforts to improve the opportunities and services available to people with disability. During his 15 year tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Afford, Mr Walton was instrumental in the organisation’s growth. Until he stepped down from his Afford position in 2014, Mr Walton provided forward-thinking initiatives to progress the organisation and its clients. In addition, Mr Walton made a significant contribution to supporting people with disability in his roles as President of National Disability Services (NDS) and Chair of NDS NSW, particularly being at the forefront in the establishment of the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme). Mr Walton also chaired the “Every Australian Counts” committee that successfully campaigned for the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and was the NDS Board representative on the National Disability & Carer Alliance. Afford offers its condolences to Tim’s family, his passion and legacy will be remembered fondly and continue to live on at Afford. Steven Herald, Afford CEO

We are so excited to share the extraordinary achievements of our clients. Lisa from Kings Park Lifestyle Centre has put in an amazing effort to work towards her goals and also track her progress along the way. One of Lisa’s main goals was to build a photo collage of her favourite things, which she completed just before Christmas last year. After hearing Afford’s promotion of healthy living programs, Lisa looked into the Kings Park healthy lunch club and staff doing a biggest loser challenge. With great determination, Lisa has decided to jump on board and make some changes to create a happier healthy lifestyle for herself. Today was her first step towards healthy living, as she joined Vibe gym and where she will be going every Thursday. She completed 30mins on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the Exercycle and another 10mins on the rowing machine. We will follow Lisa’s progress and will support her on her journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Oran Park Cooking For Life

If you had to teach something what would you teach: Mannerism and how to value people Something no one knows about me: A singer and a dancer

‘Healthy food, healthy living’ is the new motto of the clients at Oran Park Lifestyle Centre. Clients have been working with staff to search for new healthy and tasty recipes to whip up during their cooking program on Thursdays. This week they found a nutritious cheese pasta with salad which they all cooked together. It was so delicious that they wanted to share their amazing experience with everyone.
