Being on safari on a work trip is a privilege but also a curse, just when you get to know have to move on. However, I did get to stay at some outstanding camps such as Chong a private place perfect for families and small groups where your every need is catered f Sausage Tree camp, named after the tree not the meat! Its situated right on the river w viewing of elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocs and countless birds is possible without mov the deck. And the magnificent Hippo Pod, the private house at Kasaka River Lodge, a lo home with private guide and activities scheduled to suit.

We were kept busy on safari too, it wasn't all luxury lodges! Out on the water, canoe sa great way to get close to nature, a little too close in some cases where I feared I’d beco filling in a croc, elephant sandwich! Hippos also have their fun and swim alongside you paddle, but its just their curious nature, it really is a peaceful way to explore.

The game doesn't disappoint either, out on the drive we encountered lions and leopard across the open plains which are scattered with giant Baobab trees providing the perfe for the all important sundowner.

So I’d rate my time in Zambia a big success. The South Luangwa National Park and the Zambezi offer a great mix of game drives, walking, river and canoeing safaris in camps a good mix of luxury and authenticity. Where the guiding is second to none and the foo my waistband was plentiful and delicious! Cheers JT

This is a camp for those who don’t want canvas and are more comfortable in a hotel style environment. There are game drives and nature walks available, as well as a swimming pool, spa & gym. Suitable for families, couple and large groups. 2 Naibor Mara Camp Set on the Talek River deep within the National Park, this is a great camp for getting out straight into the thick of it. Ideal for the migration but with a great deal of predators and plains game are present year round. The tented accommodation here is of ginormous proportions. Stylish without being over the top this is a great camp for those who prefer their creature comforts but aren’t afraid of creatures! But is definitely one for the romantics and not the kids.
