The series De Gruyter Studies in Mathematics was founded ca. 35 years ago by the late Profes sor Heinz Bauer and Professor Peter Gabriel with the aim to establish a series of monographs and textbooks of high standard, written by scholars with an international reputation presenting current fields of research in pure and applied mathematics.
While the editorial board of the Studies has changed with the years, the aspirations of the Studies are unchanged. In times of rapid growth of mathematical knowledge carefully written monographs and textbooks written by experts are needed more than ever, not least to pave the way for the next generation of mathematicians. In this sense the editorial board and the publisher of the Studies are devoted to continue the Studies as a service to the mathematical community.

This is the first complete monograph dedicated to singular traces. For mathematician the text offers, due to Kalton’s contribution, a complete theory of traces on symmetrically normed ideals of compact operators, updated in this edition on the Pietsch correspondence. For mathematical physicists and other users of Connes’ noncommutative geometry the text offers a complete reference to Dixmier traces and the mathematical features of singular traces.

Furthermore, it also contains an introduction to the theory of invariant distances and metrics on complex manifolds, with applications to geometric function theory.
The Canonical Operator in Multiparticle Problems and Quantum Field Theory
Many applied problems of mathematical physics involve equations for functions, the number of arguments of which tends to infinity as a small parameter tends to zero. Well known asymptotic methods are applicable only to equations for a function of a fixed number of arguments. This book discusses a new asymptotic method that allows one to construct approximations for functions of a large number of arguments.

The book is about strong axioms of infinity (also known as large cardinal axioms) in set theory, and the ongoing search for natural models of these axioms. Assuming the Ultrapower Axiom, we solve various classical problems in set theory (e.g., the Generalized Continuum Hypothesis) and develop a theory of large cardinals that is much clearer than the theory that can be developed using only the standard axioms. Advances in Analysis and Geometry
Geometric Potential Series:Analysis
The Series:ModelOperatorsSub-LaplacianofSomeDomains
This monograph will cover some geometric functional aspects of the major areas of contemporary potential analysis with applications in partial differential equations and mathematical physics. Contributions from over 25 renowned mathematicians worldwide. Analysis; Geometry; Mathematics; Partial Differential Equations M. Milman, Instituto Argentino de Matemática, Argentina; J. Xiao, Memorial U., Canada; B. Zegarlinski, Imperial College London, UK. Der-Chen Chang, Jingzhi Tie
The book studies sub Laplacian operators on a family of model domains in C^{n+1}, which is a good point wise model for a $CR$ manifold with non degenerate Levi form. A considerable amount of study has been devoted to partial differential operators constructed from non commuting vector fields, in which the non commutativity plays an essential role in determining the regularity properties of the operators.

This monograph covers the mathematical theory and tools behind electromagnetism – governed by Maxwell’s equations. After some background in functional analysis is introduced, the spectral theory of the Maxwell operator is discussed. Results available for special limits and decompositions, such as static and time harmonic are taken into consideration as well as error estimates relevant when solving those equations.

This book summarizes the main analytical and numerical results of Carleman estimates. In the analytical part, Carleman estimates for three main types of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) are derived. In the numerical part, first numerical methods are proposed to solve ill posed Cauchy problems for both linear and quasilinear PDEs. Next, various versions of the convexification method are developed for a number of Coefficient Inverse Problems. M. V. Klibanov, University of North Carolina, USA; Jingzhi Li, Southern University of Science and Technology, China.

The second edition of this well received textbook is devoted to Combinatorics and Graph Theory, which are cornerstones of Discrete Mathematics. Every section begins with simple model problems. Following their detailed analysis, the reader is led through the derivation of definitions, concepts, and methods for solving typical problems. Theorems then are formulated, proved, and illustrated by more problems of increasing difficulty.

This book addresses the challenges of interrogating Big Data by transforming the notion of multiple samples, acquired in the 4D Minkowski spacetime, into a 5D spacekime extension manifold. The authors demonstrate that careful data analytics in the extension spacekime manifold can potentially expose valuable information and enhance observation based scientific inference, data driven predictions, and evidence based decision making processes.
