ELECTRICAL MACHINE THEORY THROUGH FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS

BIT RATE ADAPTATION IN DIGITAL COMMUNICATION OVER FADING CHANNELS by Roman E Goot

This unique compendium covers all the steps (from the system-level to the transistor-level) necessary to design, model, verify, implement, and test a silicon system. It bridges the gap between the system-world and the transistor-world (between communication, system, circuit, device, and test engineers).

US$62 £51

SPATIAL

• The Chinese edition of this book won the 4th Chinese Government Award for Publishing

In this unique compendium, the general principal of adaptation and its application in communications, especially for bit rate adaptation are considered. Two type of bit rate adaptation are treated — signal duration and size constellation. When a channel state is relatively good, size constellation adaptation should be used. With state degradation, signal duration is used.

• This is a unique book on the subject of synchronization and consensus of coupled arrays of complex systems

Electrical & Electronics Engineering Catalogue 2022 14 Topics in System Engineering UNDERWATER LABRIFORM-SWIMMING

Firstly, it explores two surfaces, and the geometry of both surfaces comes into play. Secondly, the book focuses on the geometry of the two surfaces within the encompassing space (extrinsic) rather than within the surfaces (intrinsic) because the book is concerned with the kinematics of one surface in three-dimensional Euclidean space — the real world.

Readership: Undergraduate students, graduate students, engineers, and researchers in the field of biorobotics.

The book then concludes by applying this approach in robotic in-hand manipulation in the last chapter.

CYBERSECURITYIN

Key Features • Labriform swimming robot, concave pectoral fins, differential drive principle, glider model and center of mass and buoyancy

This book provides a simplified description of how to design an underwater swimming robot, inspired by the mechanism of the Labriform mode of fish. This style of swimming depends on the pectoral fins only as a main locomotor for movement. A unique model with fins having a concave shape allows the highest thrust force to be achieved during the power period and the lowest drag force during the recovery period, especially if the velocity values between the powering and recovery periods are manipulated. Besides the ability to swim quickly, the proposed model was also inspired by a method of maneuvering based on the principle of differential drive for two-wheel mobile robot, achieving the minimum turning radius by controlling the speed of the rowing fins.

Robots interact with the world through curves and surfaces — the subjects of study in differential geometry. This book applies the moving-frame method, developed extensively by Elie Cartan, and the adjoint approach, conceived by Ernesto Cesàro, to study the kinematics of two surfaces subject to rolling contact and sliding – rolling contact to demonstrate the applications in robotic in-hand manipulation.

today is a common-sense approach that is a tough topic in the field of cybersecurity. While most publications in the field emphasize that scientific principles are necessary, there are very few, if any, guides that uncover these principles.

This book presents an integrative and in-depth approach to understanding electricity markets. It combines engineering, economics, and regulatory and public policy, with business analysis. The first part of the book presents the key concepts in these fields relevant to the study of electricity markets.

Starting with power engineering basics, the book proceeds to explain how these engineering fundamentals, combined with economic and regulatory theory, are used to design and operate successful electricity markets. With this foundation, business analyses of all sectors of the electric power industry — generation, transmission, distribution, retail supply, energy efficiency, and demand response — are conducted. The second part of the book contains several chapters on advanced electricity market topics that use the integrative approach developed in the first section. These advanced topics include the history of restructured electricity markets, regulating electricity derivatives, and how to run an energy services company.

This new index is designed through a novel and fresh methodology from the existing ones (i.e. QS, THE, ARWU) to evaluate the three key components — research multidisciplinarity, research impact, and research collaborative-ness. Together, these form a new and differentiated composite index under this research assessment framework for universities. Data is derived objectively based on OECD’s schema in Web of Science’s InCites through a 10-year period from 2009 to 2018.

• Most commands are presented in action, within programs aimed at solving specific problems

MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF JOSEPHSON JUNCTION NETWORKS

This book offers a comprehensive sketch of the tools used in material research and the rich and diverse stories of how those tools came to be. We aim to give readers a sense of what tools materials researchers required in the late 20th century, and how those tools were developed and became accessible. The book is in a sense a collective biography of the components of what the philosopher of science, Ian Hacking, calls the “instrumentarium” of materials research. Readers should gain an appreciation of the work materials researchers put into developing and using such tools, and of the tremendous variety of such tools. They should also gain some insight into the material (and hence financial) prerequisites for materials research. Materials research requires funding for the availability and maintenance of its tools; and the category of tools encompasses a broad range of substances, apparatus, institutions, and infrastructure.

• This book is presented from the physics and engineering point of view, rather than from the mathematics point of view, it makes this book easy for the physics and engineering students to accept it

The study of the magnetic response of Josephson junction networks can be useful in outlining the behaviour of existing superconducting electronic devices, in conceiving new types of magnetic sensors, and in describing the lowfield magnetic properties of granular superconductors. In the present work a wide introduction to Josephson junction networks is provided. The Josephson equations are introduced by means of Ohta’s semi-classical model and a simple description of the magnetic response of multiply connected superconductors is given. The analysis of the magnetic response of Josephson junction networks is gradually built up from simple interferometers to three-dimensional lattices of superconducting devices. The analytic description of these systems may be applied when fabricating ultrasensitive vectorial magnetic field sensors and interpreting the low-field magnetic properties of superconducting granular systems.
