Econet has experienced exponential growth since inception in 1998. Econet obtained a facility from the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited (IDC) in order to vastly expand its cellular network and pay for ancillary costs. Further testament to its commitment to growth, the facility was taken under a number of conditions restricting dividend payments and changes to the share capital, all of which have been adhered to.
