Previously, the public never blinked an eye when going into public spaces or travelling because businesses were taking a ‘functional approach’ to sanitisation. However, during the past six months this sector has seen a monumental shift: Hygiene and sanitisation are now an essential front-line commodity. This approach focused mainly on recommended health and safety procedures, correct cleaning equipment and products and maintaining a strict routine.

Industroclean MD Emma Corder attributes this to not only the global pandemic but to society and businesses’ heightened awareness and demand for hygiene. Corder explains, “These demands and new cleaning trends will play a major role in our ability to return to full-time business activities with confidence.”

This is being seen in one of the most interesting changes within this sector as big corporations begin to include new sanitisation protocols into their communication strategies and incorporating these into their brand messaging.

These changes are part of a new approach to doing business, approaching strategy and growing in a post COVID-19 era. The psychological aspect of cleaning and a focus on what it means, must also be considered.

“In this approach, cleaning is viewed as a way of improving safety in order to build and maintain trust with customers. Showing that your business takes the responsibility to keep customers safe, and always being transparent in all cleaning procedures will be the new way of doing business,” added Corder.
