DESCRIPTION

ISEA grease trap is a receptacle entirely made of high density polyethylene designed for the preliminary treatment of wastewaters produced by mechanical workshops, car wash stations, petrol stations, car parks and other light industrial facilities. Non-emulsified oil is separated from the water by the physical process called floatation. The oil trap tanks is internally divided into two chambers: a floating area where oil and hydrocarbons are separated form the waste water by the phenomenon known as floatation (due to the different densities) and a settling area to allow the deposit on the bottom of the tank of suspended solids. The tank is designed with a volume suitable to provide an adequate residence time of the incoming wastewater. During this period oils and greases separate and float on the surface of the tank from where they can be easily removed. At the same time sand and debris can settle on the bottom of the tank. ISEA oil trap is provided with PVC inlet and outlet piping. Access to the plant is by two inspections portholes, one in the flotation chamber and the other by the outlet pipe. Both ports are protected by screw-on covers.

INSTALLATION

EXCAVATION

BACKFILLING

PIPING AND FITTINGS

Dig a hole of appropriate dimensions. The bottom of the excavation must be leveled and compacted with a 10 cm layer of fine sand (grain size 0-5 mm).

Fill the tank with clean water before backfilling to avoid collapse of the polyethylene structure during backfilling. Once the tank is full, dump sand around the tank and level it. For a walk-on solution build a 5 cm thick light concrete layer on top of the tank and finish with a 40 cm thick soil. For a drive-on solution a reinforced concrete slab is required to protect the tank. Accessible manholes are required for inspection and maintenance.

PVC pipes and fittings are utilized for connecting the oil trap to the inlet and outlet lines.

USE PERIODIC CHECKS Periodically verify that no large bodies obstruct the sewage inlet or outlet by opening the AND MAINTENANCE inspection ports. Also, check that no sand obstructs the outlet pipe. At least once a month check that the oil is not lower than the outlet pipe. Floating material must be removed periodically using a specialized company and disposed in appropriate sites.

DESCRIPTION In case of sewer system, final discharge, the oil trap is designed as follows: NG = [(Qr) + (Qs) x (FQs)] x (Fd) Where Qr = rain water on paved surfaces Qs = polluted water coming, for example from car repair shops. The flow is determined on the basis of cleaningmachines FQs = density factor, ranging from 1 to 3, according to the specific weight of the pollutant minimum volume for sand storage is - 650 lt for flows up to 3 lt/s - 2500 lt for flows up to 10 lt/s - to be determined on the basis of specific coefficient for flows higher than 10 lt/s. It is possible to equipe the oil trap with an automatic oil discharge and complete the system with an oil absorbent chamber.

INFO Performance: The oil trap is designed in accordance with DIN 4040 and ISEA guarantees the removal of 90% of the floating materials. 77
