Ramada Encore Hotel
NAME
Brian Gallagher
‘It’s vital to our reputation that our customers receive the best quality service that they’ve come to expect from Ramada Encore,’ explains hotel manager Neil Gallagher. ‘Our hotel is popular with locals and visitors alike and we’re determined to maintain our high standards.’ To meet the demands of the hotel’s kitchen, while making best use of available space, Calor recommended and installed two one-tonne LPG tanks underground. This comfortably meets the hotel’s gas requirements and minimises the visual impact – all that is visible for each tank is the small access cover at ground level. ‘We’re delighted with Calor’s technical guidance and advice,’ says Brian Gallagher. ‘We have the performance and reliability we require, and the

concerns about its ability to deliver the quality of food we pride ourselves on. Only LPG, we felt, could give us the results we needed – and naturally that meant consulting Calor.’ Calor Area Technical Supervisor, Paul Gillespie, met with Brian and Neil to discuss the advantages of LPG in the kitchen. He says: ‘Calor LPG is the catering fuel of choice for off-mains hotels, pubs and restaurants. It has a proven track record, providing the precise temperature control, and the moist heat that keeps food succulent. Its visible flame also provides additional safety over electricity and Calor LPG can meet the demands of the busiest kitchen environment.’
Opened in 2006, the 81-room hotel is a franchise run by Brian Gallagher, owner, and Neil Gallagher (not related), hotel manager. The Ramada brand is part of Wyndham Worldwide, operating 6,500 hotels globally. Ramada itself has 875 hotels in 35 countries, providing comfortable, quality accommodation for leisure and business travellers.

Owner Brian Gallagher explains: ‘As we’re not on the gas grid, we had to examine our fuel options for the kitchen. Oil was a non-starter for catering equipment as far as we were concerned. Electricity seemed far too expensive, plus our chefs had real
The Depot Café Bar provides a relaxing environment, with excellent food and a lively bar. By day, guests typically enjoy breakfast, coffee or a light lunch with business colleagues: in the evening the emphasis is on enjoying good food and company. Dishes include pan-fried prime Irish steak; crispy duck roasted with honey; and wild boar sausages with caramelised onions and Worcestershire gravy. Such versatility in the restaurant requires a fuel that can deliver precise control, cook quality and reliability – and that’s where Calor comes in.
