Brief description of the ancient village of Sardara

The city of Sardara is located on the island of Sardinia, just 30 minutes from the international airport of Cagliari (the latter linked by direct flights from the capital of Italy Rome and the city of Milan and charter flights from many European cities) and is only 40 minutes from downtown and the port of Cagliari. The airport and the city center (port), to reach the village of Sardara you can take the train that takes you in 40 minutes to the stop of San Gavino and from there by bus to Sardara (10 minutes).

It is an important agricultural center and spa and excellent food and wine. For many years Sardara holds the recognition of "orange flag" that is the mark of quality tourism environment of the Italian Touring Club, addressed to Italian places that are distinguished by an offer of excellence and high quality of hospitality.

Sardara is a town of about 4,000 inhabitants with many corners of history to tell, from the properties of its thermal waters (similar to those of Vichy in France), the nuraghic remains dating back more than 3000 years ago, to the settlements of the Roman Empire the Middle Ages. 1. History & Archaeology – A visit to the ancient village of Sardara

On this tour we visit the museum "Villa Abbas" at the center of the village, which will involve a path that will make you relive the old days, between the Middle Ages and the nuragic of this town and the south of Sardinia. Visiting the museum will take you back several centuries and, by the path that passes through a medieval castle, dating from the period of the Roman Empire to the 'age of the Nuraghi (about 3000 years ago). 3. Visit the city of Cagliari

Cagliari, the largest city of Sardinia! We are in the south of Sardinia and, as the capital of Italy Rome, Cagliari is situated on seven hills that identify the seven districts of the city. 4. A day at the beach For a day at sea we recommend these two beautiful beaches:

Beach of Portixeddu

Portixeddu is a small town at the foot of a slope, with a beautiful view of the sea blue and crystal clear, with a long beach of fine white sand about 2 Km. The seabed is almost exclusively sandy and very low in some places and the water is crystal clear and transparent. The Mistral wind is often featured on this beach, making it ideal destination for surfers.

Beach of Piscinas

Piscinas is a true desert formed by towering dunes. The beach is about 3 km long, fine golden. The sea, emerald green, is now pretty deep, with a sandy bottom.

5. Nature – UNESCO site Barumini + Natural Park “Giara di Gesturi”

Barumini – Site UNESCO “Su Nuraxi” Visit the village Nuragico "Su Nuraxi", the UNESCO. It is a settlement dating from the sixteenth and fourteenth centuries BC. Some scholars believe that the oldest part of the Nuraghe (Nuraghi are stone buildings), was bound to a religious purpose or goal of shelter or home to the village chief, while the towers were added most probably intended for military purposes and warehouse . The village consisted of about fifty huts, used as houses, meeting places and centers for the processing of agricultural products.

7. Historic route Morning Visit the Nuraghe "Genna Maria" Villanovaforru (15 minutes from Sardara). What is the Nuraghe? It is a typical stone building conical present only on the whole territory of the 'island of Sardinia. They are unique and representative of Nuraghic (present from about 3,000 to about 2,000 years ago in the Bronze Age and Iron Age). The complex "Genna Maria", which is at a height of 408 meters above sea level, consists of a central tower around which was built a bastion. 10. Visit the undreground caves “SU MANNAU” and the “TEMPLE OF ANTAS”
