1. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The overall aim of the international seminar has been to understand the real value of the EVS experience in terms of personal development, skills and ability development, competences acquired and to involve more youngsters to choose EVS as a valid opportunity to develop skills useful in their transversal learning process (formal and non formal learning). The team and the national agency representatives agreed in saying that the general objectives have been met in relation to the understanding of the value of EVS and of the development of competences required for a good project implementation. As some participants stated: The seminar was very productive because I met experienced organisations with whom I hope to make partnership in the future It was very useful because we shared good practices and concrete examples. I learned a lot of new things, do I’m happy. As for the promotion of the EVS the trainers team observed that this objective has been partly reached, as some participants commented that they had not the opportunity to deeply discussed new methods of promotion and sharing best practices. I would have liked to have more focus on the promotion of EVS that was the main reason for my participation I joined the seminar mostly because of the part about dissemination/promotion of EVS. I felt this part wasn’t deep enough during the seminar and it could have been better explored For large majority of participants, the seminar was an opportunity to get more information. to understand how the programme works in practice and collect valuable good practices to apply back home.

2. TARGET GROUP The group included 28 participants coming from 21 countries (both programme and partner countries from SEE and EEC). The group was quite differentiated in terms of experience. We had some participants with a very good level of experience in EVS and some others completely newcomers. For some participants this gap in experience was a challenge and for some others an opportunity. In general, the mutual exchange of experiences was identified by the participants in their evaluation as one of the very strong points of the course and a big source for learning. I’m very satisfied. I liked the cooperation between newcomers and experienced participants. 3
The level of experience in EVS in the group was to different. We spent too much time on basic features that for me weren’t new. Maybe next time the seminar could focus on a more specific group of participants. The big cultural diversity and participants from partner countries had a very good impact on the group dynamics and the integration among them. The particular richness for the learning process was the fact of having 6 ex-EVS volunteers in the group. This has brought an added value in terms of “volunteer’s perspective” in the key reflections during the course. In general, the participants were very resourceful and committed to active participation in the programme. There were only two participant whose English level was less than needed to follow the seminar fully, but they were assisted by other participants using other languages and non verbal communication! The learning environment was just perfect to implement our seminar.

3. METHODOLOGY The participants appreciated the diversity of the methodology and the participative approach. The overall seminar methodology was based on experiential learning, sharing of experiences and peer learning. The trainers team provided a variety of methods and tools that allowed individual reflection, groups sharing, and learning by doing. The activities proposed were therefore well balanced and participants appreciated them very much. The activity on conflict management was very useful. It showed us that communication is so important; sometimes we forget about it. The thematic workshops were very useful because they permitted me to exchange practices on useful topics. I found the workshop on “Supporting the volunteer” the most useful one, because it is closed to my job (teacher). It provided tools and techniques to approach the role of trainer in the future. As the graphic here below shows, the average of participants’ appreciation of activities is 4,32

4. QUALITY OF THE COURSE ORGANISATION The venue of the CampusX is in our opinion an ideal location for organizing non formal learning international activities. The rooms and equipments are of outstanding quality, as well as the food and the accommodation. The logistic support provided by the Italian National Agency, as well as the material given for the seminar implementation allowed an efficient implementation of the programme. The only remark concerns the WIFI connection that didn’t work properly, affecting the implementation of some activities. The participants appreciated the support and preparation they got before the course, with the information package, and the practical guidance on how to reach the venue. Some participants remarked that the shuttle bus to reach the venue did not function very well.

5. TEAM The team work was evaluated very positively: from the first contact during the preparation process till the end of the seminar the trainers and NA representatives developed a very smooth and fast working communication and mutual cooperation. Fabiana Di Carlo and Ada Corasaniti participated in most of the activities, supporting the programme implementation when needed, and acting as resource person for participants. The trainers, Luisa Pagano, Annamaria Papini, Alessandro Zuottolo worked together for the first time and in spite of the various experience backgrounds they managed to collaborate in a very cooperative and smooth way. They complemented each other in terms of styles, expertise and perspectives on EVS. According to participants’ evaluations, the trainers were efficient, available, friendly, professional, positive, smiling, welcoming.

6. GENERAL CONCLUSIONS The seminar was very positive both from the team and participants perspective. However, for future activities we suggest to harmonise more the profile of participants. The big gap between experienced participants and newcomers did not allowed the trainers to deepen certain topics of interest for experienced participants. A more homogeneous group of participants would allow the team to work toward more ambitious objectives providing space for learning and professional development.
