Many months before this year ’ s class of potential new members of the Aggie Greek community moved into town, the leadership of CPC and their individual organizations were hard at work preparing for 2024 Primary Recruitment, With themes ranging from empowerment to philanthropy, each chapter showcased their unique values The excitement was palpable, even in the 100+ degree heat With the help of gracious volunteers, each round of recruitment was a big success
We closed the wrapped up on the first day of class with an indoor Bid Day celebration. We filled Rudder Auditorium to the brim and kicked off the celebration with some special guests, our Texas Aggie Yell Leaders
This year 1,160 women ran home on Bid Day, and we are excited to welcome many more through the COB process.
INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL (IFC)
Recruitment for 17 chapters under the banner of IFC commenced with Round Zero in Aggie Park to kick off Formal Recruitment on Friday, Aug 16 Each organization held their own variety of recruitment events catered to everything from sports and games to professional skills like networking. The culture of each chapter was on full display as hundreds of Aggies looked to find life-long friends Chapters did well to display values like brotherhood, leadership, and service to send a unified message about IFC’s mission
IFC welcomed the nearly 400 members into the community on Saturday, Aug 24 on the steps of the Administration Building Bid Day had electric energy and was the perfect way to say, “Howdy!”,

In 1999, the growing needs of culturally-based fraternities and sororities necessitated the creation of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) Ever since, the MGC has been serving historically Latinx, Asian, and multicultural Greek
organizations at Texas A&M 2024 will mark the 25th anniversary of MGC and this exciting milestone will be celebrated year-long starting with this semester’s MGC week October 21-25 MGC has been hard at work this semester continuing the excellence that they’ve maintained for the past 25 years

Colleen Russell serves as a Student Development Specialist III within Campus Engagement and Traditions in the Department of Student Activities She is a Texas A&M graduate, receiving her Bachelor’s in 2020 and Master’s in 2024 - both in the field of Public Health
ADVISOR DEVELOPMENT SERIES: STRATEGIES FOR ADVISING FIRST-GEN STUDENTS
On September 12, Fraternity & Sorority Life hosted Alexia Williams and Kyandra Greene who currently serve as Program Coordinators in the Routh FirstGeneration Center at Texas A&M University In their roles, Alexia and Kyandra provide resources and programs to students who face the unique challenges that come with being the first member of one’s family to attend a four-year institution
Before her current role at Texas A&M, Colleen was the Director of NextGen Ministries In her free time, Colleen loves to travel, bake, and collect mugs from Starbucks. She recently joined our FSL family by serving as the campus advisor for Delta Xi Nu Sorority, Inc of MGC Please join us in welcoming Colleen!
During September’s workshop, Alexia and Kyandra were able to share key information about the Routh First-Generation Center which offers both physical and virtual spaces for first-gen students They also shared important tips for supporting these students, most notably by way of connecting them to the Center’s network of resources.

We are thrilled to announce that Rebecca Rodriguez has joined the team as the new Multicultural Greek Council Advisor (SDS III)! Becca completed her B A in Business Administration at Texas A&M International University in 2021 In 2023, she completed her M S at Texas A&M in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (SAAHE) and served as a Graduate Assistants in Fraternity and Sorority Life After graduating, she continued to work at TAMU as a Program Coordinator within the College of Arts and Sciences where she primarily worked with both Hullabaloo U and the FirstGen program She is proud of her Greek roots as a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc and we ’ re glad to have her back!
CELEBRATING NPHC WEEK
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) held their Fall NPHC week during August 25-31, The week was filled with events to encourage members of the Texas A&M community at-large to engage with member organizations. Students enjoyed making connections during events such as Sunday Service, a “Dating Horrors” event, Greek 101 Trivia, Voter Registration, a fish fry fundraiser, and tailgated for the Notre Dame football game In addition, NPHC collaborated with MGC for Meet the Greeks program which is designed to introduce diverse students to culturally-based Greeklettered organizations at TAMU. Altogether, these events boasted great attendance and proved to be a great opportunity for chapters to connect with one-another and the larger student body
MGC AND NPHC BOOTCAMP
On Sunday, August 18, leadership from both National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) spent their morning retreating in a joint bootcamp to kick off the semester Rasheed Ali Cromwell, from the Harbor Institute, led students in various connection-building activities to bridge the gap between the two councils Rasheed’s insight painted a picture of what it means for students to be a leader in their individual chapters and within the Texas A&M community as a whole The students left excited to start the semester
