Buy Local - The Australian Made Campaign
Buy Local
'It’s never been more important to buy Australian than right now'
— is the tagline of the new promotional initiative from the Australian Made Campaign (AMCL), the organisation responsible for administering and promoting the famous Australian Made logo.
AMCL Chief Executive, Ben Lazzaro said Australian Made is throwing its support behind Australian manufacturers and growers, as they continue to lead the way in Australia’s recovery from COVID-19.

Australia’s overreliance on imported products has been highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s time to address this imbalance,” said Mr Lazzaro. “Let’s take a long-term view and increase our level of manufacturing self-sufficiency. While there will always be a requirement for imports, we must get the balance right between local and offshore manufacturing, to ensure Australia’s long-term prosperity.”
The centrepiece of the campaign is a TV Commercial featuring Australian manufacturers from AMCL Australian Makers series. Through the series AMCL took Australians behind the scenes and into the local factories, workshops and farms of some of the country’s most innovative manufacturers through its ‘Australian Makers’ video series. The short-form
video collection shines a light on the people, processes and stories behind some of our most loved Australian products.
"The Australian Makers series highlights the ingenuity and skills of our Aussie manufacturers, providing a unique insight into what goes into making a product in Australia, as well as the benefits it delivers to the wider community,” said Mr Lazzaro. “These are real businesses, people and products that makeup Australia’s diverse and evolving manufacturing sector."
As a registered certification trademark, the famous Australian Made logo is the true mark of Aussie authenticity. According to Roy Morgan Research, almost all Australians (99%) are aware of the Australian Made logo and 88% trust the mark as an identifier of genuine Australian products.
The vast majority of Australians (84%) associate the logo with supporting local jobs and employment and over half connect it with products that are of high quality (58%) and are produced using ethical labour (57%). Sustainable, environmentally friendly and clean and green attributes were similarly top of mind, with nearly half of Australians (49%) connecting them with the iconic green and gold kangaroo logo.
“Country of origin is increasingly playing an important part in purchasing decisions. Aussie products are made to some of the highest standards in the world. They are trusted, made in a clean, green environment, and known for their safety and quality,” Mr Lazzaro said.
