A full body of knowledge AGM — Acute and General Medicine
London Olympia 21–22 November 2012
www.agmconference.co.uk
A full body of knowledge Hospital doctors are amongst the most important decision-makers in hospital medicine. But they are also, notoriously, amongst the hardest to reach, particularly those involved in acute and general medicine.
That’s where AGM comes in: a new approach to medical training that’s emphatically cost and time efficient for doctors and is delivered in a format and environment that also offers tremendous opportunities for suppliers like you.
And now, with hospital doctors faced with unprecedented demands on their time, it is even harder to get face-to-face with the decisionmakers at the sharp end of secondary care. For suppliers like you it’s as big a challenge as they come: how do you get your message across to doctors when they are willing — and able — to absorb it?
Introducing ... Acute and General Medicine (AGM) 21—22 November 2012, London Olympia AGM: Not the traditional conference
You don’t need us to tell you that the inexorable rise in patient expectations coupled with the downward pressure on budgets and an aging population all combine to create unprecedented demands on hospitals.
Hospitals are under budgetary pressure. Doctors are under time pressure. The entire secondary care sector is under pressure to deliver better outcomes at lower cost. All of this means that both the budget to fund training, and the time available to clinicians to do it, are at a premium. That’s why AGM offers two days of the highest quality training, delivered by leading experts across the medical specialties for practically nothing. Remarkably, every medical team or unit that registers early can send two doctors entirely free of charge. And no medical delegate will pay more than a hundred pounds to attend — dramatically less than every other serious clinical training conference where prices for delegates can often be as much as £500.
Don’t worry, help is at hand!
Brought to you by a team that has had dramatic success in bringing clinical decision-makers and suppliers together in cutting edge medical events, Acute and General Medicine 2012 is a new, comprehensive event specifically constructed around the new realities of hospital medicine and secondary care.
Capturing the moment
AGM is not a typical, over-priced, didactic conference, in which weary delegates get locked into endless lectures. Our programme allows doctors to follow their learning needs across the medical specialties with pacey, interactive seminars, uniquely offering knowledge AND skills training in acute AND general medicine. An “all you can eat” modular format allows delegates to customise their own programme ensuring they spend time on the floor of the show with exhibitors and sponsors.
It’s a ground-breaking new model that guarantees an unusually large physician audience offering both cost and time efficiency to hardpressed doctors. And these clinicians — from core medical trainees to consultants, from diabetologists and gastroenterologists to respiratory specialists and geriatricians — are the big decision-makers within hospital medicine. Precisely because it is such a fresh and different proposition, AGM is also an unusual commercial opportunity for suppliers like you, offering high value face-to-face interactions with a large group of senior clinical decision-makers in a relaxed and constructive environment. But the opportunities to participate are strictly limited — they have to be to ensure the right mix for our delegates.
Neither is AGM a typical exhibition with endless rows of “me too” products and second rate content. AGM IS a new type of event, part compelling conference, part essential CPD training, part intimate networking event and part commercial opportunity with a strictly limited number of sponsors and exhibitors to ensure high quality interactions between delegates and commercial participants.

And just when medics need support to help them meet the new challenges, training budgets and study leave are being severely squeezed.
02 —— —— 03
For the first time, physicians can acquire a full body of knowledge in one place at one time: both acute and general medicine; both knowledge and skills training; both “live” and online learning opportunities, that will continue throughout the show and beyond. AGM is two days of the highest quality training structured the way doctors asked us to do it during our extensive research, delivered by experts from across ALL the major medical specialities. There are EIGHT — programme streams and nearly a hundred bite-size sessions for doctors to choose from — all for practically nothing!
AGM — Acute and General Medicine
What’s in it for you? For suppliers, AGM offers a direct route to senior doctors from across the medical specialties and from all around the country — the people who decide which diagnostic and therapeutic products and equipment should be used in their teams for their patients. Sponsors of this ground-breaking seminar and workshop programme — which has been developed by an advisory board of clinical leaders — will be provided with unprecedented access to delegates. They’ll be able to position their brands alongside the latest advances in best practice and work with our editorial team to develop educational content in their specialist areas. Our sponsorship brochure will tell you more about the flexible opportunities we can offer. Supporting this will be a tightly controlled exhibition floor surrounded by four conference theatres to ensure a constant flow of delegates. The modular structure of the speaker programme will further aid footfall.
As you would expect of an event of this scale, AGM 2012 will be backed by a major, multi-faceted promotions campaign and delegate recruitment programme.
London, Olympia 21—22 November 2012
At the heart of the campaign will be a six-month telemarketing blitz from our own in-house team of skilled Delegate Advisors, designed to ensure that every medical team, NHS trust and deanery receives a compelling personal invitation. And don’t forget, every medical unit can send two delegates absolutely free of charge. There will also be an extensive direct marketing campaign, an interactive website, cutting edge electronic marketing and a powerful awareness campaign in the trade press. In addition, there will be a range of specific communications delivered via our professional and trade association partners.
“From our experience of working with the CloserStill team at shows such as Commissioning, we know that what they say they will deliver, they will deliver. Their understanding of the healthcare environment and relationships with key partners means we can be confident of accessing high quality delegates at their events, who are difficult to reach by other means. This is why we wanted to be part of AGM right from the start.” — Paul Wright, senior brand manager
AGM — Acute and General Medicine
What is “revalidation”? “Revalidation” is the process by which doctors, from 2012, will have to demonstrate to the General Medical Council that they are up-to-date in both their specialities and general medicine. It will be based on a stronger approach to annual appraisal, with feedback from colleagues and patients and proof of continuing professional development – through conference attendance — playing an important part.
Help! Please An in-depth survey with close to 200 consultants revealed a community of senior physicians keen for acute and general internal medicine training.
Key facts • 88% of physicians said gaining CPD accreditation in general internal medicine is “important” • 43% of those physicians said it’s “difficult” to keep up-to-date in acute and general medicine • 94% told us they would attend a low cost, two-day event in acute and general medicine offering 10+ CPD points We’ve joined together with a number of leading organisations and companies including the British Society for Rheumatology, the Society of Acute Medicine and the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists to create a compelling event for medics and those that support them.
“AGM 2012 will be a great event for anyone who is involved in the acute medical ‘take’, and will provide useful general medicine CPD for all physicians.” — Dr Chris Roseveare President of the Society for Acute Medicine

The programme The AGM 2012 programme has been designed to appeal to all senior grades of physician — from core medical trainees to consultants — making it one of the few events they can jointly attend to learn and be inspired together. The programme will offer 80 insightful seminars on both acute and general medicine — covering the major medical specialties including cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, rheumatology and respiratory medicine. The acute medicine talks will provide delegates with up-to-the-minute guidance and protocols. The general medicine seminars will cover the latest advances, evidence and practice in general medicine.

“AGM 2012 is set to break the mould — no event combines acute and general medicine training, no event offers knowledge and skills training under one roof, no one has designed a comprehensive package of post-event learning for its delegates and no event is offering all this for practically nothing.” — Mike Broad, editor, hospital Dr and AGM programme director

Is there something else?
As associate event partner you will be aligned with the most progressive education event in secondary care services, with your branding sitting alongside our supporting bodies including the Renal Association, BASH, BSR and SAM.
Our 40 minute sponsored sessions are built into the heart of our conference programme. They provide the perfect forum for educating a select audience about the issues surrounding your product or service. Drawing a large audience of highly influential delegates, you will also be provided with your attendance list helping you to identify the decision makers of most value to you for follow up.
The interactive Simulation Laboratory will allow groups of clinicians to hone their emergency skills in real-time scenarios. Based on pre-show research, we anticipate this area to be particularly popular with delegates.
We can tailor many of our packages, or work with you to create something completely new, ensuring you have exactly the right solution for your objectives and budget.
Event partnership will set you clearly apart from other sponsors with unmissable brand presence across the show from the high profile branded registration area, to every delegate badge. The keynote sessions which open and close both days of the show will be hosted by your brand with complimentary AV, signage and lighting.
Stream sponsor This is one of the highest profile positions at the show giving extensive exposure to delegates with an interest in your field. Stream theatres will be branded with the sponsor’s logo, with all promotional material carrying branding in the run up to the show. The stream sponsorship package also includes a 40-minute case study session at the heart of the programme. With streams attracting hundreds of delegates across the two days this is a unique opportunity to engage some of your most valuable prospects.
Educational partner With so many sessions, no one could get round them all in two days, so AGM will go online following the show to ensure no one misses a thing. All sessions will be filmed and hosted in an online learning platform for delegates to access at their convenience. In the year following the conference, selected content will be released to the wider clinical community, creating a wide reaching branding opportunity for our sponsors.
AGM newspaper Networking partner The facilitated networking area will allow delegates to build their own programme of meetings around the main conference programme. Our innovative booking platform allows delegates to identify experts and peers with practical experience in key areas. They can then book time to meet in our networking area to explore new ideas and possible solutions.
With three print and numerous electronic editions going to over 15,000 secondary care clinicians, the AGM newspaper is a great way to gain exposure for your brand throughout the year. Edited by a well know journalist from the sector, the newspaper aims to be a lively round up of topics related to the sector, plus providing the latest news and launches from the show. Opportunities are available to place display advertising, expert columns, inserts or to be the lead partner on the piece.
The networking area will have a high footfall of delegates actively seeking solutions to the day to day issues of their organisation. This will provide a great opportunity for brand exposure, both at the show and in the extensive pre-show promotion of this feature.
Please contact us for more details of show newspaper opportunities.

We will work with you to design and produce up to 5000 high quality, personalised invitations for your customers and prospects.
