1. Introduction The following health and safety plan assure that SAGE Design fulfills all the demands regarding health and safety system. It is the point of departure SAGE Design that a healthy reason is put in the system and that health and safety work is an integrated part of procedure of contribution.

Specifications of the building site

The building is located in Sletten 41, 7500 Holstebro. Regular safety meetings are held by SAGE Design to ensure health and safety operative onsite. Each subcontractor contributes to these meetings with a safety representative, which has a compulsory education within the area of work environment and health and safety. SAGE Design site manager on site must be consulted in case of doubts. Project details:      

3. Company organization 3.1

Distribution of responsibility: The project manager is responsible for supervising the work on the building site and that person is also responsible for preparation of health and safety plans and coordinating health and safety on the building site. Every single employer can take part of one or more projects at the same time. All practical work that has to be done in the project will be executed by subcontractors. The organization is a cooperation between the client and the hired planners/designers and subcontractors who are contracted to work on site. The organization will work to insure a safe working environment and to prevent accidents on site.

The project time schedule will scrutinized to see if there is an area of work where there is a high risk. In case of that, extra safety precautions will then be laid out. The organization will hold safety meetings every 14 days with a representative from each subcontractor, together they will scrutinize the site safety procedures. The goal is to make the building site an accident free site.

3.2

The project manager will be responsible for the following health and safety activities: - Prepare and maintain the companies own health and safety system and following up the subcontractors system for this - Planning and arranging the building site - Planning and arranging the companies health and safety plan - Starting phase and transition of every single kind of work - Carrying examination included the project examination meetings with delivery to the subcontractors (through the whole project) - Coordination of subcontractors - The health and safety coordinator is a person responsible for the company’s health and safety system. It is followed by: o Written agreement between the client and SAGE Design o Written agreement between the client and SAGE Design about delivery of applications for the final work and update on the health and safety plan in main contract. Subcontractors: Subcontractors are responsible to SAGE Design for planning, execution and documentation of the agreed safety activities in the work process.

3.3

Own enterprises: For own contracts there will be appointed a supervisor which is responsible for executing of the specific security activities.

4. General site health and safety conditions 4.1

Safety meetings: The element erection crew is going to be on site for 18 or more days and that will be the most important risk area during the project. The element erector foreman has safety and first aid training. The person will work together with the site safety coordinator to insure that the element erection work is carried out in safe manner and incompliance with the Danish safety law and guidelines. The erector foreman will go trough construction plans together with safety coordinator in which they can point out areas of hazard or risk (site risk

assessment). They will also scrutinize the “Safety manual” for the erection crew and compare with the risk assessment. This scrutinizing procedure will be carried out with each foreman from each trade before start of contract. If there is any area which is not covered in either one, then safety plan can be lay down and added to erectors manual, if necessary. This meeting must take place at least 7 days before work commences. Any idea or recommendations to improve site safety should be passed on to the safety coordinator for consideration. The approved ideas will be added to the health and safety plan. 4.2

Planned work: All planned site and crane work must be brought to the attention of the factory inspectorate. The necessary application must be filled out and sent to the inspectorate by post before any work commences. Copy of that paper work must be on the site all the time.

4.3

Site layout plan All materials and containers are to be positioned according to the site layout plan. Care is to taken when working near the electricity boxes and the water and waste pipes. Any damage to the mentioned must be reported to the site manager immediately.

4.4

First aid stations: First aid stations are clearly marked on the site layout plan. The erector foreman has first aid training, so accidents need to be reported to him and he will follow the procedure from there. All the accidents should be reported to site manager immediately. A fire extinguisher is located in the first aid station.

5. Site work safety conditions 5.1

Safety equipment

All people working on building site or visiting the site must wear the appropriate safety equipment for the work they carry out, for example: glasses, breathing masks, gloves and correct working clothes.

As a minimum all including visitors must wear a safety helmet and safety shoes. All workers and visitors must follow safety signs and marking on site. 5.2

Mobil crane work

The crane operator must report to site manager before entering the building site with the crane. Street should be closed for the traffic and sign posted before the crane arrives to the site. This insure no cars park in the crane operation area. All the signs should be checked every morning before work commences. Steel erection foreman is responsible for that. Crane work should be reported to site manager at least 1 day before work commences. Access to the site needs to be sufficient so that the crane can safely maneuver on site. Street needs to be inspected to make sure that street/footpath can support the weight of the crane and also the out riggers during works. Any danger to the crane need to be pointed out before setting up. The overhead electricity cables and lights will be removed. All lifting equipment used on site must have the proper safety test tags. The crane operator must possess a current crane operator’s certificate. It needs to be delivered to the site manager before any work commences. Proper communication with a radio must be used when working on site. The crane operator must not commence any work if he finds that the weather conditions are above the recommended maximum for wind speed and visibility. 5.3

Steel erection work

Erection on site must be carried out according to the erection safety manual. The crew and crane operator must read the manual before any work commences on site. 5.4

Site deliveries

All the site deliveries must be reported to building site manager. Scaffold loading area must be kept clear of materials and parked cars during the day. Parking lights must be used all the time when stopped on the street. 5.5

Welding work

Any welding work should be marked clearly on site. The welder with valid welding certificate can work on the site. Basic safety equipment must be worn during welding operations (fireproof overalls, welding gloves, welding visor. A fire extinguisher must be located in the area where welding work is carried out. Areas of welding work must be screened off to avoid skin or eyes damage to other workers on site. In bad weather conditions (windy, rainy) welding work must be stopped.

5.6

Working in heights

Movable scaffolds must have proper safety legs, otherwise, it cannot be used. The people working from scaffolding/ladders must use a safety harness and be clipped all the time if working over 2 meters above the ground. 5.7

Weather conditions

If the weather conditions are not promising for safe work environment (heavy rain, high wind, darkness) all work must be stopped. In case of rainy weather proper rain protection clothing should be used. 5.8

Noise nuisance

The noise on the building site should be kept to the minimum, especially before 7 a.m. and after 6 p.m. 5.9

Site tidiness

Site must be kept tidy all the time. All waste materials and rubbish must be placed in proper containers for collection. 5.11

Crane Hand Signals

Hejs (up), fir (down), rejs bom (jib up), sving venstre (swing left), sving højre (swing right), teleskop ud (tele out), STOP (stop), retning (direction),

teleskop ind (tele in), ikke forstået (not understood), at large distance “lollipops” are used.

It is not allowed to access the building site without wearing hard hat and safety shoes Fences with clearly visible signs for unwanted visitors should be put up around building site The signs showing escape routes situation in case of emergency should be clearly visible It must be clearly sign for everybody what kind of safety equipments are necessary in different zones of site. Signs showing location of first aid boxes should be placed. To protect people around work area it shall be signed what kind of works are currently doing The ears protection should be used in case of sound level exceeding 80 dB, however, sound level on building site should not exceed 85 dB. 5 meters outside fences the sound level should not exceed 50 dB To prevent accidents and injuries all workers are responsible for keeping building site clear Garbage sorting and keeping those area mentioned above clear is a responsibility of all employees Safety harness protecting form falling down must be used by people working in critical places high above the ground During the building construction it is workers responsibility to secure open holes to protect other from falling down into those holes All places which are deeper than 2 meters below ground level should be equipped with temporary railing to avoid falling down It is forbidden to walk or stand underneath the crane which is transporting loads All accident or nearly accidents should be reported in to the record of building site. That might help with avoiding similar situations in the future, thanks to experience Safety mask should be used in work with chemicals or dangerous materials
