I make large-scale expressionist paintings that release self-imposed clichés and break free from the programmed maps and models of realistic depiction. Like Informalism, my art centers my personal searches on the graphic sign (a line or stain) as well as matter. I affirm the materiality of the painting as a surface, rejecting all illusionism in terms of perspective and representation of reality, other than my own line or material. My artwork is highly expressive, often incorporating bold colors and dynamic textures to create powerful and emotive compositions. I explore a range of themes, from personal identity to the complexities of living in a globalized world, while embracing the freedom of abstraction to express these topics in an open and creative way. I seek to challenge and inspire viewers to explore their own ideas and experiences.
