Building type: Multi-purpose

Project Brief

Established upon the ever growing interest in the Architecture & Design sector. This project aims to creat a dynamic and interactive platform that connects the design sector with designers, general public, and institutions.

Project Program: Multi-purpose Exhibition Centre, Design Excellence Centre, Startups Centre. Implementing purposeful and interactive interactions throughout a multitude of spatial layers and levels. Interaction levels:

Core issues

Ad' Diriyah Cardiac Diseases & Surgery Centre

02

Project Brief

Located in the premises of the Diriyah Hospital, on a 5400m2 lot, the cardiology centre sets to provide specialized cardiac medical care to the residents of northern parts of Riyadh city, aiding the rapid urban expansion. The centre houses, six main departments: Emergency Wing, Outpatient Wing. Inpatient Wing. Care Units, Operation Theatres and Radiology.

Core issues

1. Planning the facility was the first issue to undertake, an open building system (OBS) spatial organization was implemented, to allow efficient planning of the various departments.

2. Patient centric approach many modern healthcare institutions aim to achieve medical objectives in regards of the patient, thus putting more effort in the means of curing and neglecting the psychological requirement of the patient.

An OBS organization distributes planning into three levels;

1. Primary systems (fixed)

2. Secondary systems (adjustable)

3. Teriatiry systems (flexible)

An Integrated building system (IBS) was implemented to improve the overall performance of a building; by integrating various systems and components

The patient centric design approach required the creation of environments that are comfortable, safe, and welcoming for patients, and that support their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.

Certain elements that was appointed in the design spaces:

1. The use of natural light.

2. Comfortable and multiple seating options.

3. Incorporating warm colors, materials for an welcoming atmosphere
