Buchanan Construction’s dedication to community and craftsmanship makes a house a home.

When Rick Buchanan founded Buchanan Construction in 2005, it was with the intention of raising the bar in the construction industry. “I had worked in construction for quite some time and kept noticing things I felt could have been approached in a better way” says Rick. “For me, starting Buchanan was about striving for higher standards.” Buchanan’s tagline is a lifeblood of the company; “building with quality, integrity, and professionalism” is the promise that Buchanan makes to their clients, but also the standard against which employees carry out their work. An unerring dedication to these tenets has built the business’ exceptional reputation, garnering the firm prestigious nods like the opportunity to build the 2020 Southern Living Idea House, National publication, and serving as the sole builder in some of WNC’s leading communities. However, it’s not the notoriety they’ve gained that is the team’s biggest source of pride. Rather, that stems from the trust their clients place in the team. “Most often, our clients have been dreaming about, saving for, and preparing to invest in their home or project for many years. Today the firm boasts a team of 50-plus experts in their fields, including a highlyskilled carpentry team, an on-staff interior design team (access to these designers is a standard service included with every Buchanan project), and industry leading experts in safety, quality control, cost control, and design + build services. With experts on-hand and in-office to oversee every step of the building process – from design to construction to finishing touches – every project is both a collaboration and a testament to the builder’s commitment to quality. That’s true of all three of Buchanan Construction’s divisions: residential, commercial, and renovations.

The Parade of Homes is an ever-important annual event for Buchanan Construction, this year featuring four homes available for in-person tours, and two virtually. “The parade is really about gathering inspiration – we want visitors to explore floorplans, meet our team, and just learn more about what they want for their home” Rick says. Uniquely, Buchanan provides visitors with Selections Guides for each of their homes, with details about paint colors, cabinetry, lighting, flooring selections, and more – this way, guests can take inspiration from the homes they have toured, and keep it on-file for their future build, even implement these designs in their own home.

A first in Parade history, Buchanan Construction is partnering with several local non-profits which will be present at their Parade Homes (see the back cover to learn more about the participating non-profits and locations). Visitors to these homes will have an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a custombuilt twin-size bed porch swing. All proceeds from the raffle tickets will benefit the non-profit represented at the home where tickets were purchased. Four winners will be selected, with the swings being delivered and installed at the winners’ residences. “We’re grateful for opportunities like this to support our community, and the organizations that serve the Asheville area” says Rick. “As a team, we’re striving not just to build, but to do so in an honorable way, and make a positive impact on our community in the process.” •
