Interlocking Cubes Exercise 1

This project was based on an interation of cubes that reflected the verb “Interlock. By exploring the different variations the verb could take form, I was able to fully explore the defintion of the word itself and how it can be effectively communicated.

Scale, Context, and Movement: Exploring Newhouse III Exercise 2.1

This project pushed us to uncover a building in context and study the scale of the building and how the design of the building itself can be demonstrated through diagraming scale, context, and movement. Newhouse III, designed by I.M Pei, was a building that had a very clear sense of movement, making that aspect the central point of the project.

Pavilion Sequence Exercise 2.2

Continuing with the verb “Interlock”, I designed this pavilion to communicate a sequence that clearly reads as “interlock”. The purpose of the project was to create a space that would create a particular experience for the visitor as they walked through.

Uncovering Lin a Bo Bardi’s Glass House Exercise 3

Lina Bo Bardi kept in mind the natural surroundings when designing The Glass House. The use of glass to enclose the majority of her spaces gives the sense that visitors are outside and part of nature. The very 2D or linear view that is created was no mistake. Bo Bardi respected nature, and she wanted the surroundings to remain as much as she could. Her placement of glass in the back half of the house is minimal, in order to create a more intimate and peaceful experience.

House of Composition Exercise 4

The process of music composition is a progression that begins with creation and ends in performance of the final product. In relationship to this, the House of Composition reflects this progression in the circulation of the house, beginning in the composing studio and ending in the performance hall.
