‘LIVE’ PROJECTS
Our Product Design and Product Design Engineering programmes always have ‘live’ projects interwoven into the curriculum: a snapshot of activity 2019-2020
LIVE PROJECTS, CLIENTS, COLLABORATIONS & COMPETITIONS at MDX Product Design/Engineering 2019-20
Our Product Design and Product Design Engineering programmes have always had ‘live’ projects interwoven into the curriculum. They are a valuable component of the curriculum, alongside Guest Lectures, masterclasses, and tutorship by practicing designers, engineers and researchers.
They give our students the opportunity to experience multiple perspectives, from a wide variety of disciplines, practices and sectors, within the broader Product Design/ Engineering landscape.
They also help students to examine their personal practice and ethos. We encourage all students to critically reflect upon each project, talk or experience, deconstructing and critiquing that presented to them. The best projects are dialogic. Projects in which all participants learn from one another, and project partners, as well as students develop their thinking and doing based on the diverse experiences, insights and ideas within both their innovation space, and the broader social and environmental landscape which they all occupy.
This academic year, 2019-20, we've been lucky to work with:
ï Prof. Pat Jordan, ï The Thrill Engineer, ï Tocabot/Tocahive, ï The iMechE, ï The RSA, ï Glen Dimplex, ï Space Plague: SMASHfestUK.
