master of architecture and cultural heritage

Hochschule Anhalt

Recently an architect and a structural engineer with more than 14 years of experience ranging from structural design roles to construction technology roles on mega projects and companies all over the world. Currently I am working on my masters degree in Architecture and Cultural Heritage in Hochschule Anhalt to fullfill my passion in design and architecture. Vernacular architecture has been always an inspiration to me and I wish to create and design buildings utilizing my engineering knowledge in order to create passive architecture. I believe that the future of architecture and construction industry lies on the shoulder of automization and vernacular architecture that uses natural materials on its intials forms.

Nubian Vault Revitlization By

Scope

: Building Technique Analysis and Visualization

In his efforts to use clay and straw bricks in the early 20th century going againt the modern movement, Fathy has discovered the technique of building vaults without the need for forms in ordet to shape it and use it to lay the adobe bricks. the techniques was really smart and cost effective as it eleminates the use of wooden forms and it gurantees the structural stability of the wet clay-straw structure. it was used by local builders in the villages of Nuba in the southern part of Egypt. fathy noticed that the same technique has been used in many of the ancient egyptian vaults and described the technique in his book the Architecture of The Poor. this study and visualization illustrate the building technique step by step and the different building units.

Building Technique Steps

Building Units ( Adobe Bricks)

Brick 30*20*15 cm for the vertical load bearing walls

Brick 25*15*5 cm for the structure of the vault

Placing second course of bricks starting with half brick

Building the vertical load bearing walls

Third course of bricks is placed, claysand mortar is used between corses and bricks(not illustrated for clarity )

Outlining the vault parabola on the end wall with mud plaster

Forth and fifth courses of bricks are placed following the inclination of the parabola and previous courses

Placing courses continue simultaneously from both side until constructing the first complete parabola

Placing first brick againt the wall with inclination

Placing courses continue until finishing the whole vault construction

People’s House of Democray

The People of Frankfurt are of many different backgrounds and etchnicities as the city is considered to be the financial hub of Germany and one of the financial hubs of Europe. The city has been always an important roleplayer and a cradle for the German Democracy. There at St. Paul’s Church the national assembly met for the first time and it was named The PaulsKircheparlamnt. However nowadays an urge for a people’s house of democracy to motivate the citizen of Frankfurt to be an active reole players on the democracy process is needed and though the project is proposing an idea of how this could be achieved.

Concept

Frankfurt is divided to 16 zones represented by 16 local councils (Orts-beiräten) which are responsible for citizens contripution to decision making process. The House of Democracy will be a place to gether these 16 localcouncils under one roof on a very busy museum embankment zone of Frankfurt. ThePublic accessible House of democray will be a destination for citizens of Frankfurt to practice democracy and meet on weekly basis wit these 16 local councils represntitves. The building shape must be representive to stand out as a landmark by the river thus choosing and arch form will serve this function also it will blend smoothly into the landscape Utilizing the elevation difference in topography will allow to host a building that won’t block the river view in contrary it will merge and blend to the existing landscape. The roof has a public access landscape on both sides will be utilized through interactive and playful formations. in the center of the building the main conference hall overlooking the river

Japanese Modern Pagoda Model

Normally a Japanese Pagodas consist of 5 stories and made out of wood using the traditional Japanese carpentry and joinery techniques which allowed these pagodas to resist the harshest seismic loads.

In my model here I wanted to investigate on how Japanese carpentry and joinery skills are being used in the buildings of traditional and even modern structures. I was inspired by one Japanese carpentry school experiment to construct a modern Japanese pagoda using the Japanese carpentry skills.

3D model of simplified 3 levels pagoda using Rhino3D I have modelled this 3 levels simplified pagoda on 3D program Rhino trying to figure out most of the connections The target was to build this Model without using any glue or nails imitating and investigating the real Japaese wood workinvg

Urban Agricultural Hub

COEXISTANCE between ARCHITECTURE and AGRICULTURE .An agricultural and Sustainable centre endeavours to be a catalyst to reactivate the community activities. It offers a series of spaces, serving as an educational hub for promotion of urban agriculture, natural materials usage and sustainable living style. The existing site of an abandond old ice factory is located in the urban centre of Berlin with many high density housing, business and commercial blocks, some hippies communities are occupying the site creating some farms and vegetables cultivation along the river side.Creating an urban agriculture community that would serve as a green catalyst for this area could play a major role on shifting resident habits and educate citizens through workshops and labs.

The beauty of parametric models and there potential for forms optimization is endless, I want to show here a very basic form findings that I have been working on recently
