We live in a world consumed by mass production and instant gratification. I believe that true design aims to bring good intention and high quality back to the forefront of manufacturing. Good design also strives to break up the monotony of hapless consumption to provide users with something that brings them joy and ease. Design is that extra bit of thought that takes “something from being just an object into being something great.

Halcyon Jewels High End Jewelry Store The concept for this project centered around the ancient Greek myth about the Halcyon bird. It’s a love story that explains the origin of the Halcyon bird, ad well as the Halcyon days. The Halcyon Days are celebrated in Greece for a week in January. It marks a time when winter storms break for a few beautiful sunny days. The waters of the Mediterranean calm, and the halcyon birds are able to nest. Today Halcyon is used as an adjective that means prosperity, joy, freedom, and tranquility. Concept: Use the space planning and volume to represent the story through the users’ journey. The change of ceiling height and finish reflect the clearing of a storm. Clients enter into a lower and darker area where jewelry displays are smaller and placed at an angle to seem more chaotic. As they journey through the space the ceiling height in creases and has a lighter finish. The jewelry displays also become more logical and elongated to create a calming effect.

Strozier Library Redesign Group Project

Circulation Desk

The intent of this project was to conduct observational research and analyze the different modes of focus that students exhibit in the main floor of the library. This floor houses computer functions, tutoring, and a cafe area. The modes of focus my group identified are guided learning, individual study, group work, and social.

The Seedling Seat Custom Furniture Solution Research showed a high demand for booth style seating, but existing crescent booths were often utilized by only one individual. We wanted to provide a furniture solution that was more flexible to the needs of different groups as well as individuals. The Seedling Seat encourages the user to create their own booth in whatever configuration works best for them. It allows user to gang their seats together into Pods. These pods allow for easy group meetings in a comfortable setting arrangement. FEATURES: • Integrated Storage • Magnetic Ganging • Easy-Glide Casters • Durable Upholstery Offered in custom color ways. Available in a high back option for additional privacy.

Product Design

Time Deconstructed Use a two dimensional composition to inspire the form and feel of a three dimensional clock.

SOLUTION Original composition is reinterpreted into an abstraction of time. Since time is the fourth dimension, the crystalline form of the clock has a balanced and fluid three dimensional expression.

MATERIALS • Glossy Presentation Board • Acrylic Paint • Adhesive • Clock Mechanism

Pattern in 3D Create working lighting prototype to be included in design package for a previous project.

SOLUTION The design was inspired by the visual layering of shapes in the traditional Navajo pattern. The form of the fixture was imagined as if the design transitioned into three dimensions from the center, creating a layered pyramid.

MATERIALS • Acrylic • Wood Box Frame • Wood Stain • Translucent paint • Dioder LED from IKEA

Jewelry Design I am fascinated by the complex geometric formation of stones and crystals. When I wire wrap I make sure that I wrap the stone as securely as possible, while still complimenting its form and patterning. The natural forms of the stones ensure that each wrap it totally unique.
