1888 Copenhagen Gold medal
From very early on in his career as a pharmacist on the island of Saint Thomas in the Danish West Indies, A.H. Riise gained a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the very finest rum which, initially, was intended predominantly for medicinal purposes. As his skills grew, so did his rum, which saw him become the recipient of a number of Gold Medal Awards, the first of which was at the prestigious ‘Nordiske Industri-Landbrugs & Kunstudstilling’ exhibition back in 1888.
