Tasting notes
‘Non plus ultra’ or ‘ne plus ultra’ is the Latin for ‘nothing beyond here’. Mythology would have us believe that these words were inscribed on the Pillars of Hercules which stood either side of the entrance to the Straits of Gibraltar as a warning to sailors, marking the point where the known and unknown world met. Today, these two phrases have been adapted to mean ‘the ultimate’.
