Jones’ — Newbury Jeans — Dollar $ign
1
“Keeping up with the Jones’” is an idiom that comes from the fifties and sixties- it refers to an idyllic family, the people who have everything and are who everyone wants to be. However, like all ideals, to be like the Jones’ was nearly impossible. It would seem that now that the heyday of the Jones’ is over, but that is far from the truth. Standards still exist everywhere, and who would you be if you simply followed their lead? Now, in the 21st century and an age of individuality among many, Jones’ Vintage can bring you up to your ideals as well as the ideals of the Jones’ and keep you there. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Jones’ Vintage is a company that focuses on bringing you the absolute highlights of past fashion updated for the modern wearer. With a variety of dresses, casual clothing, bathing suits, and accessories designed to reflect both vintage style and modern flair, you’re sure to find something classically and uniquely you. At Jones’ Vintage, you are invited not to keep up with the Jones’ or follow the standard, but to be the ideal. It isn’t enough to just keep up anymore. Jones’ Vintage. Set the standard.

NEWBURY
NEWBURY JEANS, FIT TO PERFECTION
EST EST 1111
The Newbury Story Many years ago on Newbury Street, in the heart of Boston, a group of young students opened a small store selling jeans. At first the store sold only jeans, however as time went on, these jeans became well known throughout Boston. Not only were they unique for their square buttons, but they also became a symbol of affluence. Slowly word of Newbury spread throughout America---eventually the world. Shortly after the Newbury store was established, the young founders opened a website for Newbury. Although there is only one Newbury store, the original in Boston, people all over the world are able to acquire the world famous clothing through use of the Internet. However it has been said that there is nothing quite like buying Newbury Jeans from the original, and only, store in Boston. Newbury Jeans have become an iconic part of the Bostonian culture. After a few years, the young founders decided that it was time for Newbury to expand its horizons as they started to manufacture other clothing besides jeans which included tops, dresses, skirts as well as shoes and other accessories. As Boston is known for being a University town, Newbury has had to keep up with the changing fashions in order to cater to the fashionable young adult. Newbury is now known for being one of the world leaders in fashion. Page 1

Casual
$almon - This dress us the classiest piece of the line. The gold belt ties the dress together and gives it a sense of richness. The color of the fabric was perfect for this piece and as I combined the fabrics I knew that it was going to turn into a mini-dress.
Flowered - There are millions of different floral prints used on clothing so I was determined to create my own. This dress with the leather jacket gives the dress a hint of edge.
3
Rocker
Torn $wag - This urban look is casual with a hint of edge with torn shirt and gold lining on the jeans. This piece represents the label and it is what the label is all about.
4
Red Bolts - This piece was influenced by the rock scene .it has more edge compared to my other pieces. I used the bolt sign on the dress to represent the label.
Glam Rock
The first design I created, I knew I wanted to use bright and dark colors. The fabrics I’ve chosen for the part off the shoulder top were to look comfortable and to have a black lace tank top to match the black lace shoes. I also wanted to add bright green shorts to add more color instead of having black shorts.
Modern Retro Rock (white romper) This romper was a mix of rocker and futuristic. Metal-work detail gives it a rocker edge. The material is a striped polyester fabric. The feather hat adds flair and color to the outfit.
5
Boho
Urban Chic (pants outfit) This piece is inspired by the Lower East Side attitude that most fashionistas who reside there exude. I wanted to give a free spirited feel to it with the “hobo printed Harem pants. The slouchy, off the shoulder shirt makes it look like no effort was involved in the process.
6
Urban For my third design I wanted to create a black top but by adding different colors and patterns to make the strapless look more exciting. I designed purple shorts to go with the top. To complete the design I added black boots and a red feather to bring it together. The first design I created, I knew I wanted to use bright and dark colors. The fabrics I’ve chosen for the part off the shoulder top were to look comfortable and to have a black lace tank top to match the black lace shoes. I also wanted to add bright green shorts to add more color instead of having black shorts. Finally the last design I created a simple fitting dress with a simple black leather vest. To complete the strapless dress I created a thick leather belt with the company logo in gold and a yellow feather. The yellow feather puts the entire outfit together with the color of the dress.
7
Evening Wear
Edgy Glam (shirt + skirt outfit) This outfit is inspired by nightlife in Paris. It’s something that’s wearable to a red carpet event and any after party. It is elegant and glamorous for the rocker chick. The top is made of tulle, the skirt is made of cotton with a lace overlay.
8
Couture
Haute Couture (tulle lace gown) This gown was inspired by the unconventional combination of lace and tulle. It is elegant yet has an edge. It is made for the unique, risky rocker socialite who is about to walk the red carpet.

Glam Headpieces - one size fits all.

This Look Book was designed as a collaboration between graphic design & fashion design students, during the summer pre-college program for high school students at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. The contents and layout of this book have been designed completely by the students of both courses. This project, spanning only seven class meetings, was run as a fast-paced, real world design studio environment. Lessons of collaboration, production and professional critique, turned curious art students into designers of a working firm.
