01. START MOTION 2013.8-2014.6

The suprastudio investigate the implications of both moving and intelligent structures. In the last decade, our environments have become ever more mobile with increasing sensing and processing capability, and therefore with greater intelligence. I believe that in the next generation, transformable structures are inevitable, in an effort to reduce the real estate as well as energy footprint of buildings. The next frontier in architectural innovation is not shape and complexity but spectacular motion. I spend a whole year studying in Greg Lynn Studio, in which we have studio and tech seminar. our focus is to explore the relationship between movement and stability, which can be translated architecturally as moving room and stable envelope. In order to precisely and perfectly control the movement, we use Kuka Robot as a means to develop the movement and also a way to present the moving scene.

The prototype of this geometry and fabrication design is "Oloid"- which is a symmetric geometry and can be unfolded to a piece of whole sheet. What I try to derive from the classical geometry is not about its form but the endless rotation because of its special characteristic. I use Robot to simulate the rotation, the simulating model is made by flexible wire which can be transformed. In this process, I found an changing intersecting space which is called " pocket space. In order to make these instant pockets, we use a transformable jig and use the fabrication of lamination to make these specific intersecting surfaces.

In order to make the transformable surface physical,we design a transformable jig, and choose the way of lamination to fabricate these surfaces. We use the line as an inside structure, and laminate on the line from 2 opposite sides in order to make a "sandwich structure", which be valued a economic and revolutionary way to make a double intersecting surface.

The exsiting plane factory expended horizontally, assemble stations are scattered around on the floor. The proposal is revolutionally making a vertical factory, every assemble station is a multi-fuctional units, which is mainly consisted of storage, assemble and office. The main assemble sphere in which the plane nose assembled roated in order to be assembled from 360 direction. Activities from different levels can be seen and perceived through the apertures on the spheres. The benefit of vertical factory is that every function connected with each other. Assembly Plan

02. ARCHITECTURE DESIGN 2008.9-2013.6

This part of works include my design in the period of bachelor University-Southeast University, whose architectural education focuses on the relationship between space and structure, inside and outside. The site of every project is located in real site, hence, program of function and feasibility of building design comes into the first consideration. For me, architect is assigned to deal with the contradictions between public and private, international and regional, communal and individual and so forth. even some underlying contradictions. Thus, no matter how complex the function, I tend to explore the contradiction underlying different circumstances, because architecture for me is in fact dealing with different relationships.

Site Plan The site is located in a historical natural park. This project is aimed to provide a memorial place for people to pray, and it also contains some other functions such as exhibition and office. Therefore, the building is conceived as a collection of multi-functions, it has to coordinate the contradictory relationship between the space for pray and the space for common daily activities. This proposal is aimed to “create a sacred space with secular characteristic , thus how to deal with the following 2 pair of contradictions, one is sacredness and secularity , the other one is natural site and artificial building, becomes a significant part in my design. As a performing building, the design is attempted to escape from the tyranny of the notorious "shoe-box", shaped concert hall, and to response actively to the surroundings. I addressed the relationship between the Concert Hall and the public inside as well as outside the building. The building reveals its contents by enfolding itself in semi-transparent material; at the same time the city is exposed to the public inside in a fresh way. In order to make the building more actively to the city, I covered a "green carpet", under which contains other serving spaces, such us loft, restaurant and technical spaces.

The site is in the development zone of Nanjing, high density is the primary requirement of this project, but providing residents comfortable living space is also the responsibility of the designers. Thus, my design starts from the survey of traditional residential which owns a more communicating space. In order to accomplish a sharing space in the air, I modulize the residential unit firstly, and abstract some modules to be sharing space.

Facing the variety of people ‘s demands, the design is supposed to meet different needs of people, through the survey, I propose that there are 4 typical families---single , young couple, 3-person family, and three-generation family. After summerizing the characteristics of these families, I firstly modulize the residential unit to define differnet housing type

03. PRACTICE IN ARCHITECTURE 2012.6-2012.10

This part is mainly about my architecture practice which contains real building and constructing in my undergraduate period and in the period of Internship. There are 2 pieces of work in this section, the first one is to build a mobile cube house which can be easily made and quickly applied. It is aimed to design a applicable means. The proposal is capable to be applied easily and effective, and it has to be free from the limit of region. The other work is completed during my intern at FCJZ Atelier, the private club is aimed designing courtyards inside the house, which is significant in traditional Chinese building. . Practice in architecture inspires a lot in my study, only practice can make thinking and designing more effective.

The total space in this container is just 18.03m3 (2.3m*2.8m*2.8m), it means that every corner of this container should be elaborately designed, the whole stucture is made of stainless steel, without cement or brick, in order to make the process as easy as possibile. The whole construction process can be completed within 48 hours, which is more convenient than before. What is more, the container make use of sunlight in order to save energy and the polar energy can support the electricity energy produced by a television and a air conditioner.

Ground Floor Plan

The project is aimed to design a holiday villa for specific person, and the villa must be capable to hold small-scale family meeting and large-scale banquet. The initial idea of this project is to follow the prototype of traditional courtyard in China---rooms draws around a main courtyard. However, how to realize it by the means of modern construction technique? In order to implement this idea, material have to be chosen elaborately, how to use traditional material in a modern way also becomes significant in this project. There are many practical problems in this project, even many exciting ideas has been given up, the project is implemented completely, and I have a precious opportunity to think about practical construction issues which are often ignored when I studied at university .
