FIELD TRIP AT THE TATE MODERN MUSEUM

During this trip, I’ve seen many beautiful works of art from different artist. But among all those artists, f o u r o f t h e m particularly strike me. I’m going to present each of them with one of their masterpiece.

4

First, we have this work of the artist Louise Bourgeois. She was a French artist who has worked in USA. The threeheaded state by Louise Bourgeois represent 3 state : confusion, ambivalence and hysteria. It was a significant number for her because she was the middle child in a family of three and she herself had three children. I really liked her works because it is mysterious and also autobiographical, so each work represent a part of her life.

After that , we have this work of the artist Mark Bradford. He is an American artist who worked also in USA. The name of this work it is Los Moscos (2004). This large-scale collage includes materials found by the artist on the streets around his studion in Los Angeles. We can see on this collage many signs who represent the city of Los Angeles.

The third artist who inspired me was Andy Warhol who was an American artist too. He was a leading figure of the pop art movement. In his works , he wanted to explore the pop culture of the 1960s through is paintings as we can see in this work which is called Marilyn Diptych (1962). In this worked , the artist wanted to represent the two themes he found in the well-known artist Marilyn Monroe : death and the cult of celebrity. The repetition of the image of her represent her influence in the media in the 1960s and the contrast of vivid color with black and white are suggestive of the star’s mortality who died having an overdose. After that , we have this work of Barbara Kruger who is also an American artist who works in USA. Early in her career she worked as a graphic designer and picture editor for glossy magazines. We can see in this work a hand holding an object as if offering it for sale. Through this work , she wanted to reveal the culture of consumption.

COMME DES GARÇONS These are some of the pictures of the “Comme des garcons” shop at the Dover Street Market.

“Comme des garcons” is a Japanese fashion label headed by Rei Kawakubo, who owns the company with her husband Adrian Joffe. It was founded in 1973 and means “Like a boys” in English.

Pharell Williams who is an american singersongwriter, rapper, and record producer. I decided to choose him as a muse for “Comme des Garçons” because I think that he really represent the brand himself. He also did collaboration with this brand in 2014. It was fragrance collaboration and the name of the perfume was: G I R L. His album inspired the name of that fragrance at that time. The particularity if that fragrance was that it was for both men and women. 13

MAGAZINE GRAPHIC DESIGN

Double page spread magazine reedited

This a double page spread from the magazine DAZED. I decided to choose this double page cause it was quite difficult to change something or modify something in this double page, so I decided to challenge myself. The picture on top is the original double page spread from the magazine, and the one at the bottom is the one I reedited. I used Photoshop to edit this double page spread. Basically, for me, there was too much text in each page, so I decided to reduce the text to be more focus on the models in the pages. Less text is better. So the pictures can be more attractive. I also removed the text “The Readers” which was at the bottom of the left page, and decided to put it at the top of the left page. 19

In class, we use different short clips without sounds as a background to create different atmosphere. These are some of the pictures I took during that class. I really love that workshop because it was like our classmates were in the screen. 21
