The story of Seiko begins in 1881, when Kintaro Hattori, opened a clock repair store in central Tokyo. Just eleven years later, the company made its first clock and, in 1895, its first pocket watch. A technology developed by Seiko watches for producing power by motion, where the energy is saved in a capacitor.

Perpetual calendar

When the calendar is set, it auto matically takes into account whether the month has 30 or 31 days, including February and leap years. The calendar is accurate until 2100.

Direct Drive

A Kinetic watch that in addition to producing energy by movement also can be charged by winding the crown. The applied and remaining energy level is displayed on the dial with its own hand.

Titan

Titanium is a metal that is unique because of its lightness and is often used in aircraft, spacecraft and submarines. The metal is extremely resistant and 100% nickel free, which makes the watch suitable for allergy sufferers. In watches made of titanium, you will perceive the contrast between the metal strength and lightness. The color of titanium also gives the watch a cool look.

Water resistant

All new watches are labeled with information about. 30M/3BAR/3ATM indicates that the watch is water resistant and can withstand random splashes of water and rain, but not intended for bathing / showering. 50M/5BAR/5ATM indicates that the watch is waterproof and can be used for swimming and showering. 100M/10BAR/10ATM indicates that the watch is waterproof and can be used for swimming and snorkeling/diving, but not diving with compressed air. A watch used for compressed air diving must be marked DIVER and at least 200m/20BAR/20ATM. For a watch to maintain its water resistance recommendation it must be pressure tested and gaskets must be replaced / lubricated at least every two years.

Sapphire glass

Extremely scratch-protected glass with a hardness that is only exceeded by diamonds and some other hard crystals.

Diamonds

Precious stones used in both the case and bracelet and on dials. A Seiko watch with diamonds will have a Diamond Certificate included as a proof of authenticity and legal supply.

Seiko sports timing team Since the Tokyo Olympic games in 1964, Seiko has proudly assisted many International Sporting Federations with world-leading technologies and services. Today Seiko supports a wide range of sports from track and field, swimming, sailing, football, skiing and road running. Whatever the sport, Seiko’s tradition of excellence in sport services continues. For athletics Seiko has provided state-of-the-art timing systems to no less than 13 World Championships and 14 World Indoor Championships; in addition to over 200 other World Series events. At the World Championship in Athletics events, Seiko’s team will comprise over 50 skilled technical staff and engineers. Seiko was the official timer of the 2013 World Championships of Athletics in Moscow and is now working hard on preparation for all 2014 events and Beijing 2015.
