Who Are We? AIESEC is the world's largest youth-run organisation present in over 113 countries and territories with over 86,000 members. We are an independent non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organisation. AIESEC Ghana is the national entity for AIESEC in Ghana and has been operational since 1960.

What Do We Do? We provide a platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential as well as strive towards making a positive impact on society.

How Do We Do It? We have two different experiences we deliver to young people: Team Experiences & International Internship Experiences. With our team experiences, you would get the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills through theoretical and practical means. These can be developed on different levels by working in a team as a LEADER or a MEMBER. With our internship experiences, young people would have access to thousands of internship opportunities globally either as a VOLUNTEER, where you work towards developing a community, solving a societal issues, working in a school or an NGO; or as a CORPORATE INTERN where you work towards professional development and organisational growth.

Message from the President I look at the year in retrospect and I am amazed everyday by the level of enthusiasm members of organisation exhibit. Since day one, I, my team and the local committees have drawn up strategies and structures to help us reach our goal, to break barriers and change the status quo, to make a difference in people‟s lives. With this we set our team stand as: “embracing collaboration, being legendary”. The first quarter has been very challenging yet very interest. As the first quarter of our term, there was a lot of focus on the formation and building of the team. It has been amazing working with such a diverse and hard working team. I am also happy to mention the fact that AIESEC Ghana clearly aligned it operations with the global direction and strategies. Being part of the first pilot countries for the implementation Net Promoter Score (NPS), we were able to capitalize on real-time feedback from our customers. This feedback provided us with insight on our customer expectations which helped us to improve our services and products to better serve our customers. There has been significant improvement in our delivery of the Global Community Development Programme capitalizing on co-delivery with other entities and also focus on customer experiences. These have accounted for some of the success stories shared in this report. Our drive for our product delivery has been to Make it BIGGER, BETTER & STRONGER. In this quarter as well, the right partnerships were created to make AIESEC a provider of international top talents through our Global Internship Programme raising over 20 new partners. We used a large part of this quarter to create the right structures and systems that would catapult our growth in the coming quarter. In the next quarter, we see ourselves taking a bigger step towards our vision: “We are a collaborative platform that delivers a quality integrated leadership experience to develop young people” We want to say a big thank you to al our members, partners and all other stakeholders who have made this a reality. BEST Regards… Robert Tetteh President AIESEC Ghana AIESEC Ghana | ghana@aiesec.net | P.O. Box LG 364 Legon | www.aiesecghana.org | +233 (0) 302 226 902 National Partners

7 AIESEC Ghana 12.13 First Quarter Report

459 Members Currently, according to the data provided by myaiesec.net (our Global Information System, see Global Information System Data for more information), our membership base for this quarter is 459, spread across 7 Universities. The analysis for myaiesec.net is a bit different from the current LC reality as new members have not signed up on the system and also some alumni have not been moved to the alumni phase. The reason for this can be traced to first, inability to use myaiesec.net to extract the membership data, and since recruitment will happen in LCs in the next quarter, it should make up for the low number. This should be taken into consideration for next quarter. Secondly, the local membership retention also contributes to the low number. Each of our members are engaging in either our Team Member or Leader Programmes

Training Camps To ensure members were adequately equipped with the right skills, knowledge and tools for their roles, training camps were conducted for all functional areas. Functional training camps were done by national vice presidents for the following functional areas:     

Business Development Talent Management Information Management Communications Expansions Exchange

Sessions at the Exchange training camp

&

Each of these training camps was aimed at bringing together all members in these functional areas for collective training, development, collaboration and planning. Each of these training camps led to the development of concrete structures to ensure uniformity in their implementation.

214 Recruited In order to support operations on local levels, recruitment activities were carried out by all local chapters by the Talent Management team. 1000 posters were printed to support this. The recruitment processes were as follows:

At each of these stages, national executives were present to support the process. The final phase of the training was done at the National Training and Motivational Seminar process. Currently, Legon, UCC and CUCG are done with the first (1st) phase of their recruitment and CUC, KNUST, UDS & UCOMS are having their first phase in October. Global Information System Data Myaiesec.net is our Global Information System which houses data on all entities in the AIESEC network. From this analysis, we grew in our Team Member Programme raising but dropped in matching and realization. For Team Leader Programme we grew in raising, matching and realization. Local Committees (LCs) that are increasing member efficiency drastically include Legon, UCC and KNUST. To the other LCs, There is a need to make sure that members are participating more in LC activities, assigned roles on myaiesec.net and that these activities are result oriented activities. Reward and recognition in the next quarter will be based on results and the number of people contributing to the result. According to the data on myaiesec.net, only 109 team member experiences and 158 team leader experiences were delivered to our members. Team Member Experiences (according to data on myaiesec.net)

12 Societal Impact Projects This year the AIESEC in Africa launched the Active Contribution Programme (ACP) that aims to positively impact and develop a massive amount of young people, especially African youth, by offering them a platform of projects and activities that impacts specific areas on the society, for a sustainable development of the African continent. The purpose of the program is to: 1. Unify and align AIESEC in Africa on their activities and projects. 2. Focus the region on the implementation and delivery of the full refreshed AIESEC Experience to deliver more and better AIESEC experiences. 3. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment. 4. Increase external (in the society) and internal (within the AIESEC network) positioning. 5. Bring financial sustainability to entities and generate revenue from funds and grants. Four areas of impact are already pre-defined and we believe it represents the whole region, while the 5th area can be customized according to the different country realities. The 4 areas of impact defined are: (1) Leadership & Career Development, (2) Health Improvement, (3) Education & Literacy and (4) Economic Growth. AIESEC Ghana Local Committees runs projects under three of these four focus areas: Leadership & Career Development

2 Expansions in 2 Universities Everyday, the Expansions Coordinator, Fred Lumor, works with his team of Expansion Managers to expand the reach of AIESEC in all regions of Ghana and provide a wide-range of global leadership opportunities for more and more young people in Ghana. With the vision of reaching having AIESEC operations in all 10 regions, approaching 35 universities and establishing 3 local chapters, they work tirelessly to reach these goals. We currently have expansion operations in the University College of Management Studies in Accra and University for Development Studies in Wa.

1 Success Story At the National Leadership Development Seminar in February, 2012, two students from the Catholic University College of Ghana set out on a mission to establish AIESEC in their university. Working together with AIESEC UCC, in 9 months, they successfully inspired over 20 other students to join their cause organised two leadership forums, established an organisational structure, set up a Board of Advisors with the Vice-Chancellor of the University as the chairman, and developed business contacts. For the first time in three years, a new LC has been listed under AIESEC Ghana on myAIESEC.net We are proud to introduce the new seedling of AIESEC Ghana:

Alumni Coordination Creation/compilation of alumni database, meetings with alumni (physically/virtually) and hangouts with alumni. A Facebook group was created to facilitate communication with alumni (www.facebook.com/groups/aiesecghanaalumni).

Alumni Summit The alumni summit was incorporated with NTMS and only 7 alumni were able to make it out of the initial 36 that confirmed. Others gave excuses of cancellation of all flights coming to Kumasi, work, weddings and burials. The alumni present at the summit met and discussed on the way forward and how they think alumni can actively be engaged and another summit has been fixed for 2week in October.

The main seminar later took place at the Promising Stars Hotel, a three-star hotel in Kumasi. The participants underwent a 4-day training session on personal and professional development from highly experienced and motivated young leaders from Italy, Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Norway and Burkina Faso. Elaborate and creative trainings were delivered on Goal Setting, Leadership, Competency Development, Customer Management and Community Development. Some of the Ghanaian trainers have been to Ecuador, South Africa and Mozambique as part of the youth organisation‟s development opportunities, and their leadership experiences from there helped enriched the training. These young global-minded trainers are an average age of 24 years. As part of the experience, a package called the Ghana Youth to Business Forum was executed for the delegates, where top executives from the corporate world interacted with the delegates and run trainings and workshops for them. The companies and organizations which participated in this were PwC Ghana, Unilever Ghana, Plight of a Child International and Growth Mosaic. The delegates were „fired up‟ at the end of the conference, as they had successfully networked with other young local and foreign students and made lasting relationships. They were returning back to their campuses with energized and renewed mind-sets, motivated and ready to change the world around them. This conference was organized and managed by AIESEC KNUST and Nana Aba Tekyi (Organising Committee President) and her team with the support of the Conference ManagerStefanie Vogel.
