REGIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Who Are We? AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organization present in over 124 countries and territories with over 86,000members. We are an independent non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization. AIESEC Ghana is the national entity for AIESEC in Ghana and has been operational since 1961.
What do We Do? We provide a platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential as well as strive towards making a positive impact on society.
How We Do It?
We have two different experiences we deliver to young people: Team Experiences & International Internship Experiences. With our team experiences, you would get the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills through theoretical and practical means. These can be developed on different levels by working in a team as a LEADER or a MEMBER. With our internship experiences, young people would have access to thousands of internship opportunities globally either as a VOLUNTEER, where you work towards developing a community, solving societal issues, working in a schoolor an NGO; or as a CORPORATE INTERN where you work towards professional development and organisational growth.
Message From the President
“My life changing experience began when I made a decision to take on the internship abroad program with AIESEC. Throughout my 6 weeks in Cote d’Ivoire I discovered myself in a transformative cycle of experiences; working in teams, overcoming challenging environment, learning to deal with people and putting the interest of others before mine. Not only have I developed soft skills, I have also improved upon my French and enriched my CV with an international experience”. John Boakye (University of Ghana, Legon). “Coming to Ghana was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. Through this exchange experience I could get in touch with different cultures, working habits and hardworking Local Committee like AIESEC Legon; concerned about its trainees and their progress” - Mario (Brazil). These are examples of common stories shared by people undergoing the AIESEC experience with AIESEC in Ghana. The notion of value is being redefined for the 21st century. Consumers have a choice. They want personalization and to participate in value creation shifting the mindset to “made with me”. Value will also be about shared with as the ownerless economy expands. This will be driven particularly by younger generation who value experiences they can share – and that also delivers benefit to society – over possessions. Customer Centricity is now at the forefront of every discussion in AIESEC today as the organization is moving from an era of providing just opportunities for young people grow to an era of providing opportunities and also ensuring the exact value promised is delivered by the end of each individual’s AIESEC experience. The organization now view members and programme participants (exchange participants) as customers and we believe customer satisfaction matters not only to our customers but even more so to the organization because it is one of the most important component of our organisation’s brand image. This has led to the implementation of standards and satisfaction strategies and the legislation of new safety checklist globally to ensure not only the satisfaction but also the safety of all our customers. I am really proud of every single stakeholder of AIESEC in Ghana for the continuous support in the internal operations of the entity which has led to sumptuous projection of its image in the global network. Today, we are not just viewed as a change maker in Africa but also a global talent provider in all exchange programmes as well as Membership Programmes. We started the year 2015 on very difficult note when we witness the unforeseen death of the 22 year old student of the University of Lagos Ekelemechi Nwozor who was undertaken his volunteering internship with AIESEC Legon. His untimely death did not just provoke huge financial loss to AIESEC in Ghana but also a greater decline in the growth of exchanges as well as causing some emotional distress within the membership as people were in shock. Our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Board of Advisors of AIESEC in Ghana for providing consistent support and guidance throughout the process and always pushing/encouraging us to do the right thing; to AIESEC in Nigeria for being a marvelous co-partner in the management of this challenging case; to AIESEC International for being accessible and approachable during a time where we needed help and guidance; to the AIESEC in Ghana National Team for stepping out of your comfort zone and demonstrating high sense commitment and leadership; to AIESEC Legon and all members of AIESEC in Ghana for being so supportive to the National Team in managing this case.

The Second Phase of the YouthSpeak global youth movement and youth insight survey powered by AIESEC, began in February 2015. So far, there have been 27,000 responses record as against the ultimate goal of 50,000. The surveys are design to gather global youth voices on issues such as higher education and employment journey among the youth from over 100 countries and territories. Ghana is still part of the top two countries in Africa with the highest responses.
The department started the quarter with the major aim of ensuring visibility of our products through our various online platforms. The department’s focuses were on promotion for recruitment of students to take part in our international Exchange programs and also marketing suitable professional internship opportunities to the young people of Ghana. There was also a major focus on email marketing which was targeted toward getting signups for our incoming volunteering programme. These two focus were a continuation of projects that started in the previous quarter.

Website Development AIESEC is at a period of organizational wide digital transformation, and one of the major pieces of this transformation is the website. It serves as one of the key Platforms alongside our Global Information Systems (GIS aka EXPA), and acts as a center point for your marketing and communications. The direction we are heading is to unite our brand experiences and provide any person that searches for AIESEC a common experience no matter where they are. It is with this reason that international has developed a global website template to be implement by all entities. The marketing and communication department of AIESEC Ghana for this quarter placed much effort on researching and testing the template that has been developed and how best it can be implemented. This implementation preparations included among other things: reaching into the besting web hosting serves available to us, testing and troubleshooting of template and content development for website launch.

Corporate EVENTS Business Breakfast & National Career seminar
In a competitive cooperate era where stakeholder satisfaction and close engagement matters most in building sustained partnership, strategic collection of feedbacks is as core as remaining at the top of operations. AIESEC in Ghana made this affirmation real through a successful event dubbed, “Business Breakfast” that brought together all stakeholders of the organization under one roof to engage in discussions that would shape the organization for better in future operations. Among the stakeholders were 4 Board Members, 12 representatives of national partners, 3 members of the Alumni fold, 5 Volunteers from varying countries, over 20 executives from the 9 local chapters spread across the country creating a rich room of diversity and networking opportunities for all. The event which was held at Holiday Inn Hotel closed with a roar of applause and excitement as the twin event “CAREER FAIR” was launched to take place in the subsequent 2 days.
The University has for long been recognized as an ideal citadel for producing great assets for the corporate world but the question of skill and competency readiness of students to meet the evolving trends and demands of the corporate world remains critical to any Employer or CEO. Either with the prospects of Employer or Employee after school, students’ thirst for some career counseling and guidance before stepping into the corporate domain can never be overrated. AIESEC Ghana’s second Edition of CAREER FAIR sought to breathe reality into this need of students by bringing together over 200 students and 8 other refined and experienced figures from Civil societies to Private sectors to Entrepreneurs under one roof to shape out the best career paths of students while creating promising prospects for attachments and internship opportunities for them. The event stretched over two days with an intense 4 hour discussions each day at the R.S. Amegashie Auditorium of the University of Ghana Business School.
