AIESEC IN DELHI IIT

Venue: NDIM, Tughlakabad Meeting started: 12.35 PM Meeting ended: 4.10 PM Conducted by: Ujjwal Govil, Acting Local Committee President

The Local Committee Meeting began with Roll Calls by all departments. After which the meeting was officially declared open by Omar Ghufran, Vice President- Information Management. The motion to declare the meeting open was seconded by Kavya Gupta. The meeting progressed as follows:  The Young India Organising Committee had their walk-in. The Executive Body Coordinator for Young India, Manu Siddharth Jha, was called upon by Ujjwal to talk about the organising committee and his experience. Organising committee members- Ayush Lalchandani, Harshili Malhotra and Tanuj Mathur also shared their experiences as members of the O.C.  Ujjwal called on stage those people who went on international internships through AIESEC.  Divyam Upneja, Manager- Corporate Relations, who went to The Phillipines, shared his experience.  Abhinav Sethi, Director- SNT (Outgoing Exchange), who went to Italy, shared his experience through a presentation. In the presentation, he covered the aspects of his project, his expectations, what he learnt, places he travelled to, what he took back, his most fond memories and photographs. He even shared with the audience a short video about what we can do in one minute.   The next session was conducted by Manu Siddharth Jha, Vice President- Marketing. The session was centred around "What is Marketing?" The session was conducted because it is indeed relevant to each and every department in the Local Committee and it is important to be aware of basic concepts. One member from each department was called upon stage by Manu and was asked to give his/her interpretation of the word "Marketing". Most people termed it to be "Branding" and "Customer Relationship Management". In his presentation, Manu covered points like:  The aim of marketing (through a quote by Peter Drucker)  The definition of Marketing  His vision, mission and objective. These aspects will be carried out by a team called the Marketing Task Force. This team will drive down marketing concepts and techniques in their respective departments.  The new age "2020 customer" and his needs, the idea that a customer only wants to be connected with 5 brands and the importance of being one of those brands, how to prepare for the "2020 customer"- New capabilities, new organisation and personal growth.


Importance of extreme customer centricity, selling without selling and using technology as a facilitator. Examples of companies that have great marketing techniques: Pret a Manger, Disney, Zuno, Heineken etc.  Concept of believing in influence and not influencers  Importance and relevance of extreme vision, good service level and removal of dissatisfiers  Importance of Organic Marketing, changes in Marketing strategies every few months and not years.  Launch, work and importance of the Marketing Task Force .  The late comers at the meeting were asked to come on stage by the Acting LCP. They were asked to explain the difference between organic and inorganic Marketing.  Ankur Dang, Director-External Relations, came on stage and spoke about the Global Humanism Summit, AIESEC in Delhi IIT's flagship event. Ankur began the session by playing "Imagine" by John Lennon. The Organising Committee President- Kavya Gupta was called on stage to speak a few words about the event. The theme of the event is "It's a beautiful world". Abhinav Sethi and Raunaq Singh also came up on stage to support and promote the event.  The next session was conducted by Raunaq Singh, Vice President-Local Committee Development. The presentation was centred around Local Committee Development Support. Points covered in the session:  Local Committee Membership Hierarchy  Current state of expansions  Best case practices, high performing Local Committees ( Chandigarh, hyderabad, Jalandar)  The activity: Each commission was to take 4 pieces of paper and discuss the following with respect to expansions: 1. Virtual Operations in Q3 2. Sustainable Operations for Q4 3. Expected Outcome for the respective commissions 4. Expected Take back as individuals Through this session Raunaq was trying to emphasise the importance of strategising and analysing the current state and future of expansions in each of the Local Committee's Commissions. On an average 3 hours a month were prescribed by him for discussing expansions related aspects of operations in our departments. The Expansions Development Task Force was also declared.  Manu Siddharth Jha came up on stage to give updates on Youth to Business Forum event's latest achievements.

Break: 20 mins The LCM was restarted after a 20 minute break by Jiving. The second half of the meeting progressed as follows:


 Omar Ghufran, Vice President- Information Management, now a member of the AIESEC International Global Information Support Team, started by speaking about what he had covered at the last Local Committee Meeting, the importance of the communication systems especially with stakeholders - members, clients, Exchange Participants and alumni. The rest of the session was conducted though a presentation. The contents of the presentation were as follows:    

A mind map of the AIESEC in Delhi IIT communication system Various stages at which stakeholders are given newsletters Discover Delhi Campaign- sitemap, IR Strategy, contribution to ELD, relevance to DI members The Discover Delhi Campaign was officially launched. Anyone with doubts or questions was requested to contact Omar or any of the managers in the IM department.

 The next session was conducted by Akshat Khot, Vice President- Talent Management. He opened the session by asking the audience about the importance of Human Resources in an organisation. The audience responded with answers that said that HR is responsible for assessment, retention, recruitment, management of the membership. Akshat spoke about the Job Role of the Human Resources department: Providing enough manpower to facilitate processes, ensuring targets are met and making sure the membership has the resources to achieve these targets. The difference between Talent Management and Human Resources was discussed.  Talent Management: It is the development aspect of Human Resources department. Its main focus is providing experiences, catering to membership needs, analysing and providing solutions to problems that members are facing etc.  Human Resources: It is purely technical. It has a one sided approach in which they make decisions solely based on their own judgement. The job role entails allocation of members into departments, recruitments etc. Akshat also discussed how the Talent Management's commission was completely revamped at the June National Conference. Members of the LC are requested to cooperate with TM and fill out surveys on time. The LTT job roles and Measures of Success were discussed. The team is to ensure that the membership is equipped with the adequate resources- educational and operational. The needs assessment survey has been made by the LTT. There will be online sessions, webinars, etc. that members of the LC are expected to attend. It is important to hold each other accountable for the same. It was also emphasised that HRST's job is not restricted to putting up roles on system, but is varied. It is important that members of the LC cooperate with HRST.


We as AIESECers also need to improve our knowledge and be clear about what we are moving towards. The importance of mentorship was also discussed. We all need to pay more attention to our personal development and must take back as much as we can from our AIESEC experiences. We must learn to understand the concept of Return on Investment. 5 minutes of Jiving  The next session was conducted by Rishabh Raj, Director- Business Development. The session was about placements for all members- graduates and non-graduates. The important points covered were:  All members are requested to fill up all forms, adhere to deadlines and update/authenticate all required documents.  The structure of the department and people handling placements.  Placement process  CV Authentication  Knock out policy  The current scenario People who want to be placed are requested to share contact details of the companies with the Business Development department.  The next session was conducted by Pranava-Vice President, Operations. Pranava gave updates regarding Targets and Achievements of each department and commission.  The next session was centred around declaring that the National Strategic Conference was going to be hosted by AIESEC in Delhi IIT this year. The Executive Body Coordinators- Raunaq Singh and Rishabh Raj were called on stage to introduce the event.  Akshat also reminded the LC that the 26th of Aug was the last day for the group discussion round for August Recruitments.

The meeting was declared closed at 4.10 PM by Deep Singh. The motion was seconded by Anup Mohan. The minuter- Natasha Dhawan was discharged of her duties.
