Offering a Taste of True Spanish Luxury Barcelona Holiday is a specialised travel company that organises day trips to the bustling, cosmopolitan city of Barcelona. In July, Barcelona Holiday were recognised in LUXlife’s flagship 2018 Global Luxury Travel & Tourism Awards with the title of Spain’s Leading Destination Specialist of the Year. We spoke with the firm’s Content Manager, Mònica Mateu Batlle, to find out more about Barcelona Holiday and the story behind its success. A multi-award-winning firm in the luxury travel and tourism sector, Barcelona Holiday has wowed travellers and experts alike with their informative tours of the Costa Brava region. A culturally rich, and idyllic area in Spain, Costa Brava has become one of the populous, must-go tourist hotpots in Europe. To start, Mònica gives us some background on the company, “Barcelona Holiday is a local company that offers comprehensive tours from Barcelona and around Catalonia, giving unforgettable experiences to our customers. We don’t offer a traditional tour with only transportation from one place to another; our tours are active and offer activities such as walks, alongside bus, train and boat rides, which offer beautiful panoramic views of the important historical sites and charming villages. We have expert local guides that give geographical, historical and local information in a very interesting way.” In a sector that is constantly moving forward with the latest trends and fashions, innovation and adaptation are required to keep pace of ever-evolving customer demands. Mònica gives an example of how
Barcelona Holiday strives to innovate and develop their services every day; “Following our need to improve all the time, we have been focused on offering our tours in several languages. We used to offer our tours live in English and Spanish, with one guide for English and another for Spanish. Four years ago, we introduced our audio-guided system that allows people to follow our tours in more languages at the same time. We introduced German and French first, then Italian, Russian, Chinese and Portuguese. Our guests really appreciate being able to follow the tour in their own language.” “We specialise in tours to Costa Brava. We showcase the most awesome sceneries, the most beautiful and charming villages, wonderful boat rides, and allow our customers to swim along picturesque beaches and discover the old and fascinating history of the area.” Coming to the close of the interview, we briefly discuss the challenges that Barcelona Holiday has faced over the last year; “We had a number of large external challenges during last year that did have an effect on tourism – a terrorist attack, and an unstable political situation to name two. As a result, we’ve adopted a less aggressive approach to any upcoming projects, choosing instead to just ‘wait and see”. Nonetheless, Barcelona Holiday offers tourists and well-travelled explorers an unparalleled perspective of Barcelona and the Costa Bravo region. Their informative, and above all, captivating tours have enchanted their clients for years, as they continue to be the leading touring company for those wanting to experience true Spanish hospitality. Pioneering Luxury Adventure Company Henry Cookson Adventures Rebrands to Cookson Adventures Brand makes two high-profile appointments from the luxury industry to fuel global growth. The innovative ‘super adventure’ company, Henry Cookson Adventures recently announced that it has rebranded as Cookson Adventures. The new brand, corporate identity and website (cooksonadventures.com) reflects the company’s expanding global offering and longer term growth ambitions. Cookson Adventures also announced two high profile management appointments. New CEO Adam Sebba joins the company to lead the company’s growth. Prior to joining Cookson adventures, over a 20-year career, Sebba has worked as an investment director at Diageo’s venture capital arm, Distill Ventures, was CEO of luxury fashion brand Antonio Berardi and was a strategy consultant at AlixPartners. Sebba started his career as an army officer. Adam Sebba, CEO of Cookson Adventures, said, “I’m excited to join Cookson Adventures in order to steer this new phase for the company and continue to offer super luxury experiences to uncharted destinations in the height of style and elegance. I see noticeable trends across the entire luxury sector towards ‘bespoke’ – and to consumers preferring to invest in ‘experiences’ rather than ‘assets’. I believe Cookson Adventures is perfectly placed to capitalise on these trends. I’m excited to have such talented individuals joining the business with me and we have some further exciting executive hires to announce in the coming months.” Ricardo Gato, Cookson Adventure’s new Marketing Director, brings with him a wealth of luxury travel sector experience. He was previously CMO at Stratajet, the online private jet booking platform, where he oversaw a complete overhaul of the brand and customer experience. Prior to this, Ricardo was head of marketing at Victor and also spent seven years at NetJets.

Ricardo Gato, Marketing Director, commented, “We updated our visual identity to reflect our wider ambition and the uniqueness of the Cookson Adventure offering. We took a premium approach with a clean and uncluttered layout, which has given space to what matters - our innovative adventures. The rebranding will clearly encapsulate our corporate vision for the years to come.” Founded in 2009 by avid adventurer and world record holder Henry Cookson, the company has built a reputation for creating ‘world first’ travel experiences for clientele looking to explore untapped, remote corners of the world, whilst enjoying the highest level of luxury. Over the past decade, Cookson Adventures has grown rapidly, creating unique experiences for its global client base, including access to isolated, bio-diverse ecosystems and usually unreachable regions and climates. The company facilitated the first manned submersible dive in Antarctica and has been able to organise an array of incredible expeditions by utilising its vast network of experts including scientists, marine biologists, conservationists, and award-winning photographers. As the company continues to grow and expand, the relaunch aims to raise its international profile further and build its global presence, all the while keeping seamlessly in tune with Henry Cookson’s original vision. Henry Cookson, Founder of Cookson Adventures, added, “It’s been ten years since I started the company, with a vision to provide unique and elegant adventures to the curious and the daring. In an age when increasingly less of the world remains undiscovered, we’ve continued to pioneer the concept of luxury adventure travel. With a new team of executive hires, we intend to grow and continue to deliver luxury, unique and extraordinary journeys.”

Qamea Resort & Spa is an exclusive tropical destination for discerning travellers seeking an authentic Fijian island resort. We profiled the resort’s services as we look to explore the wonderful destination. Qamea Resort and Spa Fiji is a private and boutique facility, boasting seventeen luxuriously appointed and air-conditioned beachfront bures and exquisite Royal Beach Houses with private pools and Jacuzzi spas. Located in Fiji, Qamea Resort and Spa, the resort is nestled among swaying coconut palms and verdant tropical gardens. Set amidst 100 acres of lush tropical landscaped gardens, bushland, and jagged volcanic South Pacific mountains that soar behind the property. The resort is an intimate resort catering to a maximum of 34 adults, the resort fronts onto a private white sand beach over a kilometre in length, and is known as the most spectacular in Fiji’s northern island group. When guests first arrive at the spa, they are greeted by welcoming, friendly staff and taken to the check in area which is right on the water’s edge, providing a memorable first impression. They are then given a brief tour of the island and escorted to their chosen room. Not content with providing the perfect scenery, the staff further add to the hospitality thanks to excellent customer service. The team at the resort are a major factor in why tourists and guests return on a constant basis, and why a lot of guests arrive on the recommendation of others. The team makes the Fiji experience completely magical, as most of its staff have been working at the resort for around 20 years. Attracting guests from all over the world, with the only Guinot spa in the South Pacific, and a PADI 5 Star accredited dive shop, snorkelling just off the resort that has been named as one of the top ten resort snorkel reefs in the world. Providing the perfect backdrop to a vast array of guests, the resort offers daily activities ranging from catered picnic lunches at cascading jungle waterfalls to invigorating coastal and mountain hikes, and guests will certainly not need to look far for something exciting and adventurous to do. If privacy is what is sought, then the romantically decorated bures and beach houses, all with outdoor showers, and many with private swimming pools or Jacuzzi spas, then the luxurious resort will be the place where lifelong memories are made.
Amongst the luxurious resort, there are 100 members of staff catering to a maximum of 34 guests, meaning everybody is always looked after. Furthermore, there is also world-class snorkelling directly off the beach, and stunning and private white sand beach, meaning this is the ideal destination for guests. With accommodation being based all along the beachfront, every guest possesses spectacular views which face the sunset, and internally, there are many luxurious amenities which ensure the guest has a memorable stay. Allowing guests to explore the island independently, there are also free non-motorised activities, and the remote location ensures exclusivity for surfers, with excellent surf breaks within minutes by boat from the resort. A crucial aspect of the resort’s ability to attract tourists from all over the world is the venue’s leading spa facility in Fiji, with the Jungle Spa consisting of five stand-alone treatment rooms, with five fully certified spa therapists, all of which use the highest quality Guinot beauty therapy products. However, it is not just the activities and views which make the area so enticing to visitors. There is also outstanding gourmet and cuisine, with five expertly skilled chefs, and perhaps more importantly for some, free evening entertainment to provide the perfect end to a perfect day. With technology becoming increasingly dominant in the Hotel and Spa industry, the team at Qamea Resort and Spa have worked hard to provide the perfect experience to guests, Recently, the team had fibre optic cable installed throughout the entire resort, meaning guests are now able to access complimentary WiFi, along with installed phones in their rooms, enabling them to make the most of efficient room service. Although the resort is moving forward with the times, it also looks to provide a unique experience to guests and as such does not look to follow trends. The resort is the perfect place for romantic getaways and special occasions. Lastly, providing guests with a personalised water bottle to every guest that stays with the team to avoid plastic bottles on the island, the team makes sure everybody has unlimited complementary purified water available at all times. The Qamea Resort and Spa is the perfect place for guests looking to get away from a hectic lifestyle, or the perfect romantic getaway.
