April 2015
contents Welcome to the April edition of LUX, your glimpse into the world of the glamorous! It was all plain sailing this month, as we headed off to Antigua to find out more about the Caribbean’s biggest regatta. We enjoyed a taste of France’s finest at the Amber Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, and delved deep into the heart of the Essex countryside to discover the secrets behind a truly indulgent treat. We discovered more about the opulent Mandarin Oriental Pudong’s luxury May holiday package and discovered the weird but wonderful floating King Pacific lodges, a quirky place for luxury holiday makers to find their sea legs . In our Pampering section, Real Techniques revealed their beautiful new Bold Metals Collection brushes, enabling professional high performance results and, in our motoring pages, we introduce the spectacularly kitted out new Hyundai Tucson. In this month’s fashion section we are honoured to learn more about the collaboration between the V&A museum and the magnificent pieces by late designer, Alexander Mcqueen and, in our art section, we celebrate the artistic endeavours of perhaps Britain’s greatest ever prime minister. And finally, in our tech section, we encounter a stylish new solution for people with more than one mobile phone and we look at how Samsung are curving the way forward with their new bendable smartphones! We hope you enjoy this issue. See you next month! Lyndsey Parry, Editor

Setting Sail for Antigua Sailing Week 2015
Explore - Setting Sail for Antigua Sailing week 2015
With less than a month to go to the 48th edition of Antigua Sailing Week, over 100 yachts are entered to take part in the Caribbean’s longest running regatta, with more entries expected over the coming weeks. Antigua Sailing Week is expected to attract several thousand sailors and party revellers to Falmouth Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard for the Caribbean’s most famous sailing event. Lloyd Thornburg’s ballistic record breaking MOD 70 trimaran Phaedo 3, is joining a number of high profile yachts competing at the last big showdown of the Caribbean sailing season. “I always look forward to coming to Antigua, it is just a wonderful place to race,” commented Lloyd Thornburg. “It has to be one of the best places to sail anywhere in the world and the party atmosphere ashore just adds to that. We have a lot of friends in Antigua and the organisers put on a great event. Phaedo^3 will be take part in the Guadeloupe to Antigua Race on April 24 and the Round Antigua Race on April 25 and if the conditions are right and the crew performs, we have the capability of setting new records for both. The lime green trimaran Phaedo 3 has already shown its capability to smash records. Prior to demolishing last month’s RORC Caribbean 600 record, Phaedo 3 sped around Antigua in training, completing the course in 2 hours, 44 minutes, 15 seconds, hitting 35 knots of boat speed. According to Gunboat founder, Peter Johnstone, the long awaited debut of the G4 will be at Antigua Sailing Week. Eduardo Perez’s G4, vivid orange catamaran Timbalero 3 designed by Nigel Irens, is the latest generation of foiling catamarans capable of phenomenal speed. Former A-Cat World Champion Mischa Heemskerk, also part of the design team, is expected to be on board. Eduardo Perez was last at Antigua Sailing Week in 2011, winning the Gunboat class with Cucu Belle. The brand new Gunboat 55 Toccata will also be racing at Antigua Sailing Week. Owned by Chris and Carolyn Groobey, the couple plan to cruise Toccata back to Newport Rhode Island after Antigua Sailing Week and compete in this summer’s Transatlantic Race and events in Europe. The largest monohull registered to date for Antigua Sailing Week is Jean-Paul Riviere’s Finot-Conq 100, Nomad IV. The magnificent scarlet red French yacht has a towering 47 metre mast and is one of the fastest cruising yachts in the world. The gold hulled Farr 95 Dharma, built by Southern Wind will be the closest match on the water to Nomad IV. Entries for Antigua Sailing Week are divided into a large number of classes which are designed to match the boats into competitive fleets. From the world’s fastest yachts to family and friends racing their own pride and joy, Antigua Sailing Week has a wide appeal with five days of competitive racing off the rugged south coast of Antigua plus two optional days of racing including around Antigua and the race from Guadeloupe. Antigua Sailing Week is a highly competitive regatta held in one of the world’s finest sailing locations. The party atmosphere onshore, well that is legendary!

Taste - Tiptree Little Scarlet
Tiptree Little Scarlet In the heart of the Essex countryside, fields of tiny Little Scarlet strawberries are picked by hand, taken across the farm and straight to the jam factory to be made into Tiptree Little Scarlet Strawberry Conserve. Each jar is packed with more than sixty tiny strawberries, every berry a reminder of sunny summer days in the English countryside. Little Scarlet strawberry plants were brought to England from North America in the 1900s when Mr Wilkin was searching for new plants for his farm. The plants in the fields around Tiptree today were derived from this original stock. A unique fruit that is prized by lovers of fine preserves to spread on scones or croissant. A taste of luxury throughout the year!

Molton Brown – Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea, the New Floral Collection Molton Brown unveils their blossoming new scent through their collection of bath and body products. The range is a reflection of tranquillity, serenity and femininity inspired by a Sichuan goddess. This authentic floral fragrance is introduced in an eau de toilette and complemented by the bath & shower gel, body lotion and hand cream. The scent itself captures the essence of the beautiful goddess Semo, who was presented with a mirror by a mountain deity mesmerised by her loveliness. She accidently dropped the enchanted mirror and it shattered into 114 shards, which then magically transformed into 114 glittering azure lakes in Sichuan. Captivated by the tale, the London based scent connoisseurs have chosen this location’s most beloved and precious ingredients to use throughout this beautiful collection. Firstly, honeysuckle, the scent of which intensifies nightfall. The scent of blossom adds the narcotic, nectar sweet aromas that charm with an intoxicating character. And finally, the scent is uniquely balanced with exquisite, gentle white tea, an ingredient which reflects Molton Brown’s love of seeking out the world’s rarest fragrances. To reflect the beauty and grace of this floral scent, the bath & shower gel and body lotion bottles are decorated with a hand drawn illustration of a honeysuckle petal in bloom. The collection is also available in beautiful gift sets, presented in Molton Brown’s British made, soft lilac box embellished with their elegant, signature knot.
The scent’s creator Shyamala Maisondieu offragrance house Givaudan comments, “Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea is a truly sensual fragrance capturing the timeless innocence of white florals with the rare elegance of white tea.” 22 LUX - April 2015

Retreats - Elevating the Swim Spa Experience!
Elevating the Swim Spa Experience! Marquis, in its fourth decade as an industry leader in hydrodynamic performance products, has developed an innovative new vessel for aquatic activity and enjoyment… Introducing the Aquatic Training Vessels, or ATVs from Marquis. ATVs elevate the swim spa experience and are personal workout and health products for daily life. “For the first time, Marquis is expanding beyond traditional hot tubs by offering our unique version of a swim spa,” says Marquis’ President John Schrenk. “However, Marquis’ ATV™ is much more than a traditional swim spa, it is a true action vessel for the whole family to enjoy all year round.”
In an ATV, swim strokes, leg kicks, resistance movements, and low impact range of motion exercises are all options for active efforts and a healthy life. ATVs can also just be a place to kick back and float away stress or laugh and play with the kids. An ATV is also built to last. The vessel is made of high tech polymers for the most durable product. A standard 50 amp (16/32 amp) electrical service powers three independent 160 GPM (606 LPM), two speed pumps to deliver a full spectrum of water flow options. Three pairs of turbo jets of 80 GPM (303 LPM) each, deliver a water flow that can be customized for optimized aquatic workouts. All of that built into fresh innovate design lines makes Marquis’ ATV outperform the swim spa competition.
The interior steps are built to ANSI/APSP/ICC-6 safety stairs specifications for safe and secure footing and transitions in and out of the vessel. The stairs and the vessel floor have a smooth yet tactile surface treatment to allow for optimal water aerobics footing and non-slip navigation of the stairs, unlike slippery acrylic surfaces that can prevent stable footing. LED lighting is standard along the steps for better visibility as well.
Standard features for the ATV include a swim tether, or optional resistance and rowing kit attachments. Crank up the audio option to work out to your favourite music. Add sub waterline LED lighting to bring additional sparkle to the water. Or choose the fountains 12 point water feature option for beautiful arcing streams of water along the vessel walls.

Pampering - Naturally Brightening Skin
The new Elemis White Brightening system is a truly innovative solution for the growing global demand for a brighter and more even skin tone. Dark spots, age spots and excess pigmentation can cause skin to look dull, uneven and aged, and are formed through a combination of UV Exposure, hormonal influxes and lifestyle choices. Skin brightening treatments have traditionally been a daily routine in Asia, but with today’s hectic lifestyles consumers of all ethnicities are looking to address pigmentation, skin irregularities and the visible dullness of modern skin. The new three stage programme includes a cleanser and lotion which both contain a White Brightening Complex that harnesses potent melanin inhibitors and white brightening actives, designed to synergistically combat age spots, dark spots, uneven skin tone and irregular pigmentation. Used together with Advanced Brightening Even Tone Serum, the system helps to restore skin clarity and luminosity and reduce the appearance of pigmentation and oily shine. Skin is more luminous and visibly brighter. This advanced system has been extensively tested on both Caucasian and Asian skin for optimum white brightening results all year round. Kick start the White Brightening Even Tone skincare programme with the luxurious, mattifying foaming cleanser for all skin types. Formulated to cleanse and prepare the skin, it lifts away dirt, impurities and excess oil to reveal super clean, smooth and radiant skin. This complex combats skin discolouration and irregularities, whilst helping to prevent the appearance of dark spots. Skin is left brighter, softer and naturally illuminated. Daisy extracts help to inhibit the formation of melanin and the synthesis of Tyrosinase, reducing the appearance of age spots. Oat amino acid lifts and removes dirt and oils to maintain the skin’s natural barrier, whilst mattifying and softening. Kiwi and Sophora extracts help to naturally diminish the appearance of uneven pigmentation and age spots, whilst simultaneously preventing the future darkening of the skin. Another step in this skincare routine is the beautiful White Brightening Even Tone Lotion. This should be applied immediately after cleansing to condition the skin. The formula helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots while the red algae intensely moisturises the skin. The skin tone correcting lotion restores visible clarity and luminosity, leaving the skin soft and shine free. This final step in this skincare routine solution is the intensive brightening serum. This formula is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of uneven pigmentation in just 28 days. The unique complex of daisy and pea extract along with encapsulated vitamin C, help to reduce the appearance of dark spots, age spots and existing imperfections, whilst simultaneously helping to minimise future formation.

lux April marks Stress Awareness Month, a chance for us all to consider the causes and cures for the day to day stresses we encounter. We know that stress affects us internally but it’s also important to consider the unrelenting effect it has on the way we look. Stress and Skin
About Skyn ICELAND
As stress impacts us internally, it also has an unrelenting effect on the way we look. The stress response causes hormones, cortisol, adrenaline and histamine to wash into the blood stream and over time, wreak havoc on our skin. Recent research in psych dermatology indicates that when stress becomes chronic and hormone levels remain elevated, it triggers a combination of symptoms including irritation and inflammation. Water, oxygen and vital nutrients are also drawn away from the skin, depriving it of the vital elements it needs to thrive, and impairing natural immune function, so it is not able to heal. This vicious domino effect manifests in the form of excess oil, breakouts, dehydration, and irritation and can lead to premature aging.
Skyn ICELAND is the first skincare brand created specifically to combat the physiological effects of stress on the largest and most exposed organ, our skin. It is a high performance skincare system of products that bring instant relief, immediate results and long term benefits to stressed skin, both internally and externally. Every Skyn ICELAND formula contains skin boosting actives and technologically advanced ingredients that help lessen stress induced irritation, breakouts, redness, sensitivity and premature aging. The products can be used in conjunction with an existing skincare regimen during times of intense stress, or as a daily safeguard for those who lead high octane lives.
“Most people don’t realize that some of their most stubborn complexion problems are caused by accumulated, chronic stress,” says Sarah Kugelman, founder of Skyn ICELAND. “We may not be able to immediately clear away the stress in our lives, but we can address and alleviate the visible effects of stress on skin. Skyn ICELAND have perfected a skincare range suitable for men and women with to do list longer than the queue for your morning flat white. Here are their hero remedies for your daily skincare stresses… Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels are designed for when you’re run down and stressed out. The delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. This cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. The ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion is the product to reach for when your skin becomes congested, prone to blemishes, or when you notice the signs of breakouts and excessive oiliness. This lightweight, daily hydrating lotion for chronically stressed skin goes on with a cooling burst to decongest, detoxify and stabilize your complexion, returning it to its natural, fresh and healthy state. Glacial Cleansing Cloths are perfect for when you’re too tired to deal with the whole cleanser and washcloth routine. These on the go foaming cloths are the ultimate skin saviour. Infused with Icelandic glacial waters and beneficial natural extracts, they sweep away makeup, dirt, oil and other impurities while refreshing and soothing stressed skin. Best of all, there’s no water required meaning they’re great for travel too!
26 LUX - April 2015

“Hyundai Motor has high aspirations for the brand in Europe. The All-New Tucson is a bold new car and our brand ambassador that brings to life our claim ‘New Thinking, New Possibilities’. Through great design and advanced technologies, it represents another leap forward for Hyundai in Europe. And, as a total package, it offers customers value beyond expectations,” commented Jochen Sengpiehl, Vice President Marketing at Hyundai Motor Europe.
Bold and athletic exterior creates unique SUV appearance “Design expresses our progressive spirit and passion, and it is transforming our brand. The All-New Tucson has a bold and athletic presence achieved through refined, flowing surfaces, bold proportions, sharp lines and most importantly, our newest generation hexagonal grille - our brand signature,” said Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai Motor Group. The front of the All-New Tucson is dominated by the Hyundai signature hexagonal front grille, which connects with the LED headlamps to create a distinctive identity. A wing-shaped horizontal bar at the front bumper, which incorporates the LED daytime running lights, gives the car a unique style and provides a visual reference for the car’s wide track. By moving the A pillar back it becomes visually disconnected from the long bonnet, accentuating the sleek profile. The directional shape of the wheel arches contribute to the agile and dynamic appearance, even at standstill. The expressive ‘Z’ character line above the rear wheel arches creates a sculptural side profile and a powerful stance. The rear has a clean design with horizontal lines that flow from the rear wheel arches and which are accented by slim tail lights. The All-New Tucson will be available in a range of 11 elegant exterior colours and its refined interior combines elegance with ergonomics for a sensuous experience. Buyers will also have a choice of three interior colours. As well as introducing new soft touch, highquality materials across the cabin surfaces, the interior has undergone extensive ergonomic testing to ensure ease of use and a pleasant and sensuous experience. The modern simplicity of the centre console is underlined by its horizontal orientation, and there is added sophistication to the refined cabin ambience. The front seats feature long seat cushions and can be ordered with powered adjustment, heating and ventilation. Heated rear seats with reclining backrests will be available and new air vents will bring extra comfort to rear seats occupants.

lux Originated by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Savage Beauty has been edited and expanded for the V&A’s large exhibition galleries. It features 66 additional garments and accessories, including some rare early pieces, lent by private individuals and collectors such as Katy England and Annabelle Neilson as well as pieces from the Isabella Blow Collection and the House of Givenchy. A new section has been added to the exhibition, focusing on McQueen’s early London collections. Other new garments displayed include a red ballet dress from The Girl Who Lived in the Tree and a white feathered dress from The Horn of Plenty.
“The collections at the V&A never fail to intrigue and inspire me. The nation is privileged to have access to such a resource…. it’s the sort of place I’d like to be shut in overnight.” Alexander McQueen
Gainsbury and Whiting, the production company that collaborated with Alexander McQueen in staging his catwalk shows are working with the V&A on the exhibition. Each section captures the essence of McQueen’s provocative, dramatic and extravagant catwalk presentations, through installation, music and film. For example, a dedicated gallery is used to recreate the spectacular moment where Kate Moss appeared in a gown of rippling organza as a holographic 3D image, or Pepper’s Ghost, for the finale of the Widows of Culloden catwalk show. Another feature of the exhibition that has been expanded at the V&A is the Cabinet of Curiosities. Presented in a double height gallery, interspersed with film footage of nearly all of McQueen’s catwalk shows, it showcases designs produced by McQueen in collaboration with fellow creatives such as the milliner Philip Treacy and the jeweller Shaun Leane. In total, the exhibition includes more than 240 ensembles and accessories, the largest number of individual pieces designed by McQueen and collaborators ever seen together. They range from McQueen’s Central Saint Martins’ postgraduate collection of 1992 to his final designs for A/W 2010, completed after his death, and are drawn primarily from the Alexander McQueen archive in London. The thematic presentation of the exhibition reflects McQueen’s Romantic sensibility and interrogates ideas and concepts central to his work including his subversive tailoring, his Gothic sensibility, primitivism and the animal world, heritage and ancestry, nature and the natural world and technology and handcraft. The V&A was one of the first museums to show McQueen’s work in 1997 in the exhibition Cutting Edge: 50 Years of British Fashion 1947-1997. He was also represented in the Fashion in Motion series in 1999 and with Shaun Leane in 2001, and was one of 11 designers represented in the exhibition Radical Fashion in 2001 which showcased works from his Voss collection (S/S 2001). Martin Roth, Director of the V&A, said: “I am thrilled that this magnificent show has come to London and I feel passionately that the V&A is its natural home. Lee Alexander McQueen presented his work here during his lifetime and studied the Museum’s wide-ranging public collections of tailoring, painting, art, photography and books as inspiration for his visionary designs, yet remained vigorously anti-establishment and a true provocateur.”

lux Arts Council England has announced the acceptance in lieu by H M Government of a major collection of paintings by the Great War time leader Sir Winston Churchill, whose death 50 years ago was commemorated earlier this year. Last year, following the death of his daughter and last surviving child, Lady Soames, her Executors offered 37 of Churchill’s paintings to the nations, which have now been accepted in satisfaction of inheritance tax arising on her estate. Winston Churchill was not only an inspirational Prime Minister during the Second World War but a highly talented amateur artist. As Mary Soames wrote of her father, “ …in his 41st year [1915] painting literally ‘grabbed’ him, thereafter playing an increasing and abiding role in his life, renewing the source of his great inner strength and enabling him to face storms, ride out depressions and rise above the tough passages in his political life.” Painting was a pleasure and a relaxation which he enjoyed well into his 80s and he produced over 500 works. The paintings accepted in lieu span Churchill’s artistic career and range from 1915 to the late 1950s. Culture Minister Ed Vaizey said: “It is fitting that in the fiftieth year since his death these paintings by the great war-time leader Sir Winston Churchill will be displayed in three very significant locations that helped shape his life and gives us an opportunity to appreciate the artistic talent of a man who was a colossal figure in world politics.” 35 of the paintings have been allocated to the National Trust and will remain at Chartwell, the family home in Kent which opened to the public in 1966. Chartwell now welcomes 200,000 visitors a year from all over the world. Two other paintings have been allocated to the two places which were the centre of Churchill’s life as a statesman and politician. One will hang in the Houses of Parliament and the other is in the Churchill War Rooms. The allocation of the paintings reflects the intentions of Lady Soames who had placed all of these paintings on loan to these three places during her lifetime. Edward Harley, Chairman of the Acceptance in Lieu Panel, which advises Government on offers in lieu said, “The opportunity to ensure that visitors to Chartwell can continue to appreciate Churchill in all his many aspects by seeing his paintings in the house and the studio comes at a very appropriate moment. Fifty years after his death and seventy years after the end of the War, Churchill remains one of this nation’s greatest figures. His paintings let us see the man in the round and not just as a great politician.”

lux Jean-Christophe Coutures, Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard Winemakers, said: “Double Barrel is an exciting addition to the Jacob’s Creek and indeed the wider Pernod Ricard Winemakers portfolio. Double Barrel challenges conventional winemaking processes, whilst remaining committed to the heritage and provenance of the Jacob’s Creek brand." Driven by a culture of wine innovation and a desire to craft a new wine style, the winemakers at Jacob’s Creek sourced aged barrels that had cradled Premium whiskies for up to 20 years, and started experimenting. Using quality grapes from selected Barossa and Coonawarra vineyards, Jacob’s Creek chief winemaker Bernard Hickin crafted red wines which were first matured in French and American oak barrels, before being finished in 20 year old whisky barrels to create complementary flavours. Bernard Hickin said “Each barrel performs differently, so it took time to understand the true effect on the wines, and achieve a result that was perfectly balanced. We discovered that finishing the wines in aged whisky barrels introduced additional intricacy and a smoother texture, due to the fundamental differences between barrels made for ageing whisky, and those crafted to age wine. We do stress that it’s more of a finishing process, it’s not an aging process.” The barrels were drained and dried out in order to the flavour of the old timber to come through, and not the wines to exhibit strong whisky characters. Hickin added: “The use of Scotch whisky barrels to finish our Double Barrel Shiraz has imparted additional layers of complexity and smoothness, which combine beautifully with the rich varietal plum, fruit cake and chocolate notes of Barossa Shiraz. On the other hand, finishing Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon in Irish whiskey barrels has integrated the black fruit flavours and aromatic herbal notes, softened the tannins and, most noticeably, added real richness throughout the palate.” Double Barrel will play a strategic role in the Jacob’s Creek portfolio by providing a trade up between Reserve and the brand’s fine wine portfolio. At the start of the journey a portfolio gap for a masculine range targeting premium+ red wine drinkers was identified, which led to the development of Double Barrel.

Tipple - Gold Is the New Black
Guinness is proud to launch Guinness Golden Ale the next exciting chapter from The Brewers Project, St. James’s Gate, Dublin. Named after its distinctive golden colour, Guinness Golden Ale is brewed using Guinness yeast, Irish Barley, the finest hops, and specially selected amber malt that gives the new beer its rich golden colour and beautifully balanced taste. The subtle biscuit flavours from the malted barley perfectly complement the crisp bitterness and delicate hop aroma, giving way to a refreshingly clean finish. ABV: 4.5% Peter Simpson, the brewer behind Guinness Golden Ale said: “My ambition was to create beautifully balanced ale from Guinness that would appeal to a broad range of people and introduce them to the exciting world of premium ale. The release of a golden ale from Guinness is a bold new step and I’m really proud to have created a great new beer that is worthy of the Guinness name.”
Gold Is the New Black Guinness boldly enters the dynamic world of premium ale
Head of Innovation for Guinness, Nick Curtis-Davis said: “There has never been a more exciting time for beer and at Guinness that inspires us. People are interested in beer again, and in trying new styles and varieties of beer. Guinness Golden Ale gives beer lovers the chance to try something new from a much loved brand, flavourful golden ale with all the character and quality that Guinness is famous for.”
About the brewers project: The Brewers Project started last September and is a celebration of the vibrancy of the world of beer today and the heritage, quality and craft of brewing at St. James’s Gate in Dublin. It began with the reinterpretation of recipes from the 200 year old historic brewers’ diaries and the release of Guinness Dublin Porter and Guinness West Indies Porter last September and continues today with the release of Guinness Golden Ale. And this is just the beginning, Guinness is only 256 years into its 9,000 year brewery lease, there’s a lot more beer to make.
About guinness: The Guinness Company was established in 1759, when Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on St. James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin. Brewed using four natural ingredients, water, barley (malted & roasted), hops and yeast, Guinness is the world’s most popular stout. The iconic beer is brewed in 49 countries worldwide and sold in over 150 with 10 million glasses of Guinness enjoyed every day around the world. Enjoy Guinness Golden Ale responsibly. lux 2014 was the year when the number of mobile devices in the world outnumbered the number of humans for the first time. Therefore it is no surprise people carrying more than one mobile is an increasingly common phenomenon. Many professionals who frequently travel abroad for work now need to stay connected via different cellular networks, while for others, carrying two mobile phones is the key to managing a healthy work/life balance and keeping work and private life separate. Until now there has not been a solution that allows the people to carry two mobile devices safely and accessibly in one stylish case, but help is at hand from a new innovative, luxury dual phone case, PearPeel! PearPeel cases are quality products, designed in Britain. Perfect for use with BlackBerry, iPhone and many other smartphone handset models, PearPeel dual phone cases are designed to be both stylish and practical. Made from the highest quality Eco Verde leather, the cases are rich in colour with a natural grain in the leather texture, to give each item a true luxury feel. PearPeel cases enable users to call, message, browse and charge two mobile handsets while still in the case, but each device can also be removed in seconds to be used separately. The cases also offer the option of a stylish credit card and money holder that can be attached to the case at times when you only need one handset. Users are able to choose a style that suits their personal needs, with the option of one, two or no camera aperture, and models either with strap, ideal for users who keep devices in a bag, or without to make it as slim line as possible for individuals who keep it in their pocket. The protective separator in all PearPeel cases also doubles as a stand for mobile devices, enabling users to either watch media or make a video call hands-free with either of their phones without removing from the case. Aside from being a play on the founder’s own name, the brand PearPeel comes from the fact that pears of course go well with Apple and BlackBerry, the peel is the protective skin, and the cases will safely hold a pair of devices.

Tech - Curving the way forward!
Curving the Way Forward! Samsung are developing new bendable smartphones that will SHAPE our future! Samsung has been working on bendable screens for smartphones over the past few years, but the company is now promising that display technology will be ready to arrive in real products starting next year. At Samsung's Investor Forum in New York, the company revealed these displays will be so bendable that they can actually fold in half! Specifically, Samsung says it will be making between 30,000 and 40,000 flexible displays per month by the end of 2015. The first device to use this bendable technology will launch by the end of next year, but Samsung says that "nothing has been decided on the finished product." There's an important difference between flexible and bendable. Phones such as Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Round, and LG G Flex have screens that are slightly curved, which supposedly offers a few benefits such as the ability to see notifications when the screen is turned off and a more ergonomic design that fits into your pocket more easily. Based on the way Samsung is describing its newer technology, however, it sounds like you'll be able to actually fold and bend future phones. Of course, developing a bendable screen is only half the battle and manufacturers still need to find a way to make processors, batteries, and all the other components inside smartphones flexible too. LG and Samsung have both already started working on batteries that can bend and fold. So keep an eye out for these bendable releases as they shape our future technology!
